    Duties Description Within the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI), the Equal Opportunity Specialist (EOS) 1 supports the Department’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) program, and reports directly to the Equal Opportunity Specialist 2 (EOS2). Under the direction of the EOS2, the incumbent will perform the following duties:•Coordinate the implementation of diversity and inclusion, and equal opportunity initiatives.•Assist in implementing, and monitoring the agency's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Plan.•Articulate agency goals and objectives to agency executives; and advise agency management on diversity and inclusion, and equal opportunity matters.•Assist with determining underutilization and developing programs to address problem areas.•Analyze data and produce reports related to agency diversity and inclusion, and equal opportunity programs; evaluate data about the composition of the agency workforce, especially about the representation of protected class.•Review minimum qualifications for new and existing positions to ensure qualifications meet legal standards for Bona Fide Occupational Qualifications.•Assist with developing, reviewing and making recommendations about Department personnel practices, policies, and procedures.•Assist with conducting outreach and recruitment activities, and publicize employment opportunities to increase diversity within the agency; share job postings of non-competitive and exempt positions with various diverse population groups.•Represent the agency at various career fairs for diversity recruitment efforts.•Assist with developing and conducting training programs for supervisors, managers, and employees to inform them about affirmative action, equal opportunity, and diversity programs and relevant laws.•Assist in the planning and execution of several cultural events in coordination with the Central Office Diversity & Inclusion Committee (CODIC) and various subcommittees.•Other duties as assigned.

     

    Minimum Qualifications Must meet the following qualifications for non-competitive appointment:Six years of experience* in equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion, or human rights.* Qualifying Experience: working with organizations concerned with equal opportunity, diversity and inclusion, civil rights, minority business development, or similar programs; or in recruiting, training, and upgrading the educational and job qualifications of protected class members.Substitution: associate’s degree may substitute for two years of the non-supervisory experience; bachelor’s degree for four years; and J.D. or master’s degree for five years
