    Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Keesler AFB, MS. This is a Regular Full Time (RFT) position with benefits (medical, dental, life insurance, retirement, 401(k), and annual/sick leave. Responsibilities Serves as the Outdoor Recreation (ODR) department Assistant Director and assumes responsibility for operational oversight of department in the absence of the Director. Performs and/or assists in the operation, maintenance, and administrative support for ODS activities to include base FAMCAMP, pool, paintball, vehicle storage area, base park, and ODR programs such as R4R and more. Serves as Outdoor Recreation Adventure Programmer. Within established policies and objectives; plans, develops, coordinates, and conducts a variety of recreation clinics and trips in support of a large outdoor adventure program. Implements higher-level directives selects activities and services to be offered in addition to required basic programs. Schedules, publicizes and promotes various clinics, trips, and other activities. Ensures compliance with all state and local agencies regulatory requirements. Ensures all work is accomplished in accordance with standards set by management, AFI's, OI's, and guiding policies and regulation, and daily operations run smoothly and efficiently. Provides advice and guidance to employees for work assignments, relays instructions from management in all areas of ODR< sets the work pace and ops tempo; and ensures sit materials and tools are available to repair and perform preventative maintenance on equipment as needed. Ensures facility is always clean and organized, documents significant occurrences, and opens/closes the facility as required. Leads a staff of 15 Recreation Assistants/Aids; assigns and review their work. Plans work schedules, determines performance objectives and rates performance. Develops budgets, markets cost effective programs and services that meet customer needs. Implements programs such as trips, tours, activity tournaments, social events, etc., followed by After Action and post-event financial reports. Ensures strict staff and patron safety rules and regulations. Follows EEO principles and environmental requirements. Responsible for the implementation of cash controls; ensures cash register is cleared daily, financial reports are completed and deposits are accomplished. Approves financials with SAIS in the absence of the manager, while ensuring separation of duties as required. Conducts monthly resales inventories, supply orders via P-Card, and together with the manager, and ensures operations are aligned to meet cost of sale and NIAD goals and objectives. Maintains a system of accountability including inventory, security, and administrative controls for the recreation supply operation. Maintains files and record keeping for ODR operations. Researches product information for best value and ensures all required sources are used. Conducts monthly reconciliation of logged transactions. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifying Experience: Experience: Planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, or evaluating outdoor recreational program; developing and executing a program level budget; evaluating and/or instructing in the principles and techniques of recreational program planning and management; ability to supervise and lead a team of employees. ----OR---- Education: Undergraduate (Associates or Bachelors degree) or Graduate (Masters' degree) education with a major study in general recreation or the fields of: outdoor recreation or youth recreation or community recreation. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement..
