    Description

    We are looking for a skilled Payroll & Benefits Specialist to support our client in Chicago, Illinois. This contract position requires a meticulous individual who can manage payroll for a large workforce, ensuring compliance with multistate tax regulations and maintaining high standards of accuracy. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in payroll systems and a commitment to delivering seamless payroll operations.

     

    Start date: 8/11/25

     

    Pay rate: $40-50/hr.

     

    Duration: Estimated 3 months

     

    Onsite: 2-3 days/week (Tuesdays & Thursdays, required).

    Responsibilities:

    • Process payroll for approximately 1,000 employees across multiple states, ensuring accuracy and timely payment.

    • Monitor and ensure compliance with state tax regulations, including reporting requirements.

    • Manage the payroll inbox to address inquiries and resolve employee payroll-related issues efficiently.

    • Utilize knowledge of multistate tax laws to maintain payroll compliance across different jurisdictions.

    • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure payroll operations align with organizational policies and procedures.

    • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to payroll activities.

    • Identify and resolve discrepancies in payroll data to ensure precision and reliability.

    • Provide support during audits by delivering required payroll records and compliance documentation.

    • Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations to ensure continuous compliance.

    • Assist with onboarding new employees into payroll systems and verifying their information.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in U.S. multistate payroll processing.

    • Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now software, required.

    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling payroll operations.

    • Solid understanding of state tax laws and regulations.

    • Excellent communication skills for addressing payroll-related inquiries and resolving issues.

    • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

    • Preferred but not required: familiarity with international payroll processes.

    • Preferred but not required: experience with Delta Vision software.
