    Robert Half Accountemps (Princeton, NJ)


    Description

    Our client is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Cash Application Specialist to join their finance team. This role is critical to ensuring accurate and timely application of customer payments to outstanding invoices. The ideal candidate will have experience in cash posting and strong Excel skills.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Accurately post customer payments and manage cash application processes

    + Notify AR team of any short pays or overpays

    + Process and record refunds and returned checks

    + Research and correct misapplied payments

    + Provide backup support for bank deposits during peak volume or staff absences

    + Create and maintain basic reports and spreadsheets

    + Support the month-end close process

    + Assist with system enhancements and testing

    + Perform special projects and other tasks as needed

    Requirements

    + 2+ years of relevant cash application or accounting experience

    + Strong attention to detail and excellent time management

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, etc.)

    + Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills

    + Ability to work independently and as part of a team
