    Description We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Newburgh, New York. This is a Contract-to-permanent position, offering an excellent opportunity for growth and long-term collaboration. The role is fully onsite, requiring flexibility to accommodate additional hours during month-end and audits.

    Responsibilities:

    • Process bi-weekly accounts payable transactions with accuracy and timeliness.

    • Ensure all payables are posted by the monthly deadline, maintaining compliance with financial schedules.

    • Address and resolve "Not Specified" expenses on Profit & Loss statements by class each month.

    • Digitally scan and organize accounts payable documents within QuickBooks.

    • Reconcile the Accounts Payable Aging Summary to identify and resolve discrepancies.

    • Analyze invoices and expenses to identify trends and potential cost-saving opportunities.

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date Accrued Expense Schedules.

    • Assist with payroll functions, including maintaining the organization's database.

    • Update and refine departmental procedure manuals as necessary.

    • Collaborate in cross-training activities with the Assistant Controller and support special projects as required. Requirements • Associate degree in Accounting preferred, or a minimum of four years of relevant experience.

    • Previous experience in accounting, billing, and collections is highly desirable.

    • Familiarity with non-profit organizations and grant processes is a plus.

    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.

    • Excellent analytical, writing, and problem-solving capabilities.

    • Solid understanding of general accounting principles and practices.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, and Word applications.

    • Experience with QuickBooks is required, with a focus on accounts payable functions.
