Position Summary:

The Education Specialist is responsible for providing training program advisement according to member’s sector-based career pathway; assisting and supporting members in completing applications for enrollment and financial aid supports; referring members to suitable job training programs; maintaining continuing contact to ensure completion of training activities. Serves as a mentor, liaison, and troubleshooter based on the members’ career plans.

What You'll Do:

+ Coordinate with the Career Development Specialists to assist members in understanding and exploring available training options.

+ Guide the members through training activities as outlined in their career plan.

+ Coordinate with Clinical and Wellness Coordinator, Part-Time Clinician and Career Development Specialists regarding treatment plan for untreated or unstable substance use, mental health and/or medical conditions that adversely impacting engagement in services, wellness and recovery, as well as completion of training.

+ Provide services in a flexible manner according to member’s schedule to maintain engagement and completion of programs.

+ Stresse urgency and ownership, guiding members through a learn-by-doing process during their program engagement.

+ Work with the Career Development Specialists and Community Coaches to provide outreach to members who fail to report to an appointment to identify and help address and underlying issues to encourage member to re-engage.

Your Responsabilities Include:

+ Develop collaborative relationships with local training institutions, SBS, NYCHA, and employers.

+ Participate in at least one HRA-led P.D. quarterly.

+ Create new training and education partnerships and attends partner collaborations.

+ Host onsite multiple training and education events monthly.

+ Observe all policies and procedures and attends all required trainings and certifications as scheduled.

+ Responsible for capturing and recording educational information.

+ Coordinate with the Career Development Specialists to outreach to members who have difficulty maintaining engagement in training programs.

+ Document activities, participation, progress, and completion of training programs in the case records and both HRA Salesforce and FedcapCARES™ computer systems.

You're a Great Fit For this Role If:

+ You have a Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field, such as psychology, education, vocational rehabilitation, or occupational rehabilitation from an accredited institution.

+ Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in case management; or training and/or work experience determined to be acceptable by the agency Knowledge of relevant subject matter related to work experience in areas such as, but not limited to, occupational training, substance use, mental health, employment, and housing services.

+ Familiarity with social and human services organizations is a plus.

+ Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and be sensitive to maintaining confidentiality.

+ You are highly organized and detail oriented.

+ Proficient in Microsoft Office.

+ Have experience working with public assistance recipients, formerly incarcerated individuals, and those affected by the challenges associated with poverty.

Compensation:

$20.20/hr.-$27.41/hr
