    Job Summary

    The Business Systems Analyst (BSA) is responsible for developing a full, foundational understanding of operational, cyclical work processes throughout the business and how the company’s IT systems are used in support of these processes. This will involve a cross platform understanding and will be developed through regular engagement with business owners, end users and IT resources. Utilizing this understanding the BSA will also support key business initiatives which can include but not be limited to acquisitions, audits, regulatory reporting or any other business initiatives where IT support is required.

     

    The BSA will partner with end users to develop a thorough understanding of business processes, accurately document functional requirements and work closely with IT staff and AMS support providers to identify, evaluate and present IT solutions that are both cost effective and meet customer needs. This individual will be expected to become an expert on the business, products and workflows existent at Aquarion.

    Principal Responsibilities

    + The Business Systems Analyst will work in a team environment to analyze business problems, collaborate to devise solution alternatives, produce documentation, and support software development work with the overall goal of ensuring that we deliver the functionality that our internal customers need.

    + Regularly engage business owners in operational and administrative departments including Customer Service, Engineering and Planning, Finance, HR, Supply/Utility Operations and Water Quality to build partnerships and a solid understanding of data and IT functional requirements.

    + Develop a functional understanding of the SAP core business platform and over time, an understanding of the other vertical IT platforms and how they support operational and administrative work processes.

    + Act as a liaison between IT, Business SME’s, external service delivery partners and our acquisition IT representatives to ensure communications between entities is accurate and up to date.

    + Develop detailed requirements documentation for changes, enhancements, and new development.

    + Research and analyze business problems to determine if systems solutions are advisable and available.

    + Assess the impact of change to existing workflows and assist in the development of new workflows.

    + Support both large enhancements and ongoing system maintenance work simultaneously.

     

    Principal Responsibilities Continued

     

    + Prioritize solutions that make the greatest use of existing applications/technology and the changes to existing work processes prior to considering new technology.

    + Assist in troubleshooting application issues with the business and IT development teams.

    + This position will work closely with our business customers and the IT systems development teams (internal, external).

    + Assist in the planning and execution of projects to ensure adherence to schedules.

    + Build close working relationships with both business and IT partners.

    + Maintain awareness of technical and industry developments to ensure continued growth and knowledge.

    Preferred Requirements

    + ERP (SAP Preferred) and Utility industry exposure (water preferred)

    + Exposure to GIS, LIMS, and mobile workforce management a plus

    + 3-5 years experience performancing business system analysis

    + Excellent verbal and communication skills

    + Experience/exposure to BRD (Business Requirements Document), ERD (Systems Requirements Document), and Use Case documentation.

     

    Preferred Requirements Continued

     

    + Working knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM/ITIL) concepts and practices and drive to provide exceptional IT customer support

    + Exposure to systems development lifecycle (SDLC) concepts and structured change management procesess and software (e.g., Service Now, Cherwell, etc.)

    + Project management experience either as a PM or accountability as a project leader for activities of a larger project

    + Supports change through collaboration, brainstorming, asking questions, and thinking outside of the box.

    + Provides management with accurate and timely status, risks, or issues reporting.

    + Experience/exposure to alternative analysis and process workflow diagrams

    + Ability to adjust priorities based on changing situations.

    + Ability to embrace feedback and the desire to further develop skills.

    Education/Certifications

    A minimum of a BA/BS or specialty degree in Business Management, Industrial Engineering or related field with emphasis on business process analysis.

     

    Salary

     

    This job is classified as an exempt role with a salary between $89,520 - $111,900.

     

    After 3 months of successful employment, a hybrid option is available (3 days in the office/2 days remote)
