    Summary This position is located at various MWR Aquatic Facilities on Fort Polk in Leesville, Louisiana. Responsibilities Serves as a lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager. Employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests. Responsible for lifeguarding guests in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility. Provides maximum pool area surveillance and responds to emergencies; rescues pool patrons and administers first aid as required. Attend aquatics and/or safety training as directed. Adheres to Customer Service standards of the Installation. Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training according to ATP 7-22.01 as of October 2020 and assisting with American Red Cross swim lessons as an Aide. Assists in maintaining pool, and area clean and free from any hazards. Performs periodic water tests and reports results to the pool leader on duty. Provides information to swimmers regarding safety/health/admission rules and procedures. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Minimum qualifications: Possesses and maintain the following certifications: Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS). American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional. CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED). First Aid. **NOTE: The certifications referenced above must be provided during the application process. Failure to do so may result in an ineligible rating during the vetting process. Education The position does not entail a positive education requirement. Additional Information Area of Consideration: The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is those residing in the local commuting area of Fort Polk. Local commuting area is defined as a 50-mile radius of Fort Polk to include, Beauregard Parish, Rapides Parish, Sabine Parish and Vernon Parish. Military Spouse Employment Preference (SEP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration. Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials This is a pay-banded position. Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
