    Position Overview:

    We are seeking a motivated and skilled Data Engineer (DE) to join our cell therapy technology team. In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain high quality data applications that power advanced cell therapy manufacturing, research, and clinical workflows. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data modeling, database design, and building Unified Data Models (UDM) to support both real-time and batch data processing. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to enable reliable, secure, and performant data solutions that enable life-saving therapies for patients.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines and data lake architectures using AWS services

    + Build and maintain RESTful APIs using API Gateway, Lambda and Python to establish connection between front-end and back-end

    + Automate infrastructure deployment with BMS Auto PTP and CloudFormation tools (Infrastructure as a Code)

    + Partner with upstream application owners to develop data streaming pipelines using AWS AppFlow, Lambda, Kinesis Data Streams, Glue Streaming ETL, Step functions etc. into downstream DBs.

    + Design normalized and denormalized data models to support Unified Data Model (UDM) frameworks for healthcare, finance, or operational systems.

    + Collaborate with business stakeholders, product managers, scientists, software developers to build rich and robust data applications supporting operational, analytical and machine learning needs

    + Develop and maintain documentation on architecture design, data flows and functionality

    + Ensure data quality and accuracy through unit testing, code reviews, and adherence to regulatory standards (e.g., GMP, GxP, FDA, IEC 62304) as applicable.

    + Work in an Agile environment, participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospective meetings.

    + Stay current with emerging technologies and propose innovative solutions to improve laboratory and manufacturing efficiency.

    Required Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

    + 8+ years of industry experience in data engineering and at least 3 years in AWS; experience in life sciences, medical devices, or regulated industries is highly desirable.

    + Proficiency in object-oriented programming languages such as C#, Java, Python, or C++.

    + Working knowledge of Apache Spark for complex data processing needs

    + Strong experience with relational and NoSQL databases, such as PostgreSQL, Redshift, DynamoDB, or Aurora.

    + Hands-on experience in writing complex SQLs and optimizing them for speed and performance

    + Proficiency in data modeling (3NF, star, snowflake) and designing schemas for batch and streaming systems.

    + Experience with web-based distributed applications (front-end and back-end), REST APIs, and relational databases.

    + Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

    + Knowledge of CI/CD, Git, Git hub with good documentation practices.

    + Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.

    Desired Skills:

    + Experience in IT development and data stack utilized in pharmaceutical industry

    + Experience with Scala, Airflow, and Kafka

    + Familiarity with regulatory standards for medical software (GMP, GxP, FDA, IEC 62304).

    + Experience in test-driven development and continuous integration.

    + Experience with Machine Learning and DevOps tools is preferred.

     

    The starting compensation for this job is a range from $156,000 - $185,000, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility).

     

    The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed.

     

    Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
