    Job Description

    The **Assistant Director, Financial Management Systems** plays a key role in supporting and improving the PeopleSoft Financials (FSCM) system and other related finance applications. This position helps ensure that these systems are running smoothly, meet the needs of the University, and follow best practices. The Assistant Director works closely with the Associate Director, Financial Systems, Reporting and Planning on system updates, supports technical integrations, helps with creating reports and queries, and provides guidance to users.

     

    The Assistant Director also helps define and maintain the rules and procedures that guide how the finance systems are used. A major focus of the role is to research and make recommendations on ways to improve how the University handles financial tasks by using technology more effectively. This role works closely with the Financial Management Systems team, as well as with Information Technology Services (ITS) and other departments, to support system security, data accuracy, and user access. The Assistant Director also helps support projects like system upgrades, testing new features, or making system improvements. They help troubleshoot issues, assist users, and support financial reporting efforts. This role is important in connecting technical work with the needs of the Finance teams and the larger University. The position reports to the Associate Director, Financial Systems, Reporting and Planning.

     

    Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $110,150 to $137,700; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

    Requirements

    + Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.

    + 4 to 6 years of professional experience in financial systems, with a strong background in PeopleSoft FSCM or comparable ERP system, preferably in a higher education or public sector environment.

    + Proven ability to manage day-to-day production support as well as support functional and technical initiatives related to system upgrades, configuration changes, and process automation.

    + Working knowledge of PeopleSoft FSCM or comparable ERP modules (e.g., General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Asset Management, Travel & Expense, Grants) and related reporting tools.

    + Experience with technical components of PeopleSoft (such as PeopleCode, SQR, Integration Broker, Application Engine) and ability to translate functional requirements into technical specifications.

    + Familiarity with financial system interfaces, data integrations, and reconciliation processes involving third party or internal systems.

    + Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects, provide user support, and address evolving business and compliance needs.

    + Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills to engage with Finance and ITS stakeholders at all levels.
