Job Description
Position Purpose:
The Project Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating the activities of a team of assigned operations technicians to safely and efficiently perform the scope of work detailed on the customer purchase order and/or work order.
Primary Duties /Responsibilities:
+ Performs mechanical and/or chemical decontamination of radioactive materials/equipment
+ Sorting/segregation, volume reduction and packaging of radiologically contaminated materials and equipment.
+ Responsible for the safe operation of the following equipment: powered/non-powered hand tools, hoists/cranes (e.g. overhead, gantry, and jib), powered and non-powered industrial trucks (e.g.. forklifts, box tilters), oxy-acetylene.oxy-propane torches, PAK-45, bailing press, HEPA vacuums.
+ Responsible for complying with all applicable company operational and safety plans and procedures and correcting safety problems or bringing them to the attention of higher management.
+ Assist with the planning and preparation of project estimates, proposals, and contracts and may work at a customer site, branch location or in the field.
+ Prepare detailed project performance sheets for the finance department to be used in the preparation of customer invoices.
+ Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education / Experience / Background:
+ BS in Chemistry or BA in related science discipline or equivalent work experience required
+ 5 to 7 years of hazardous waste experience required
+ 1 to 2 years of project management experience preferred
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
+ Knowledge of disposal capabilities and limitations prior to shipping waste materials to ensure efficient disbursement and storage.
+ Computer proficient in Microsoft Windows Suite
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
+ Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines, simultaneous tasks, and multiple projects/people as necessary
+ Strong customer service orientation
+ Possess ability to follow through on projects to completion.
+ Complete knowledge and understanding of contract provisions and terms.
+ Ability to create & prepare reports as necessary
+ Strong knowledge and understanding of basic chemistry and hazards of chemicals
+ Strong knowledge of 40 and 49 CFR and frequently used citations
+ Must be able to effectively participate in projects involving environmental matters with other support staff and make recommendations to supervisors.
+ Ability to operate fork trucks, overhead cranes, monitoring/survey equipment, other measuring equipment/devices
+ Complies with all health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with Alaron and Veolia requirements
+ Applies independent and critical decision/discretion/judgement on matters of significance to Alaron's operations
+ Attends all required training courses
+ Maintains a professional image to clients
Required Certification / Licenses / Training:
+ 40 hour Radiation Worker Certification
