    The primary purpose of this position is to provide exceptional laboratory and informatic support for the laboratory of Dr. Mark Hamilton within the Department of Lymphoma and Myeloma. The incumbent provides skilled laboratory processing and biospecimen management support for laboratory-based assays and is knowledgeable about proper human subject research guidelines.

     

    *Job Specific Competencies: *

    *Laboratory Support (70%)*

     

    Responsible for processing of human subject tissue samples, including tumor biopsies, blood, bone marrow, cerebrospinal fluid, and cellular therapy products according to provided standard operating procedures (SOPs).

     

    Collects tissue as needed from clinical operations teams, including both standard of care and clinical trial research biospecimens, and maintains accurate sample logs and database entries for successful banking and retrieval of biospecimen samples.

     

    Independently identifies suitable biospecimen samples based on scientific rationale and assembles sample vials and manifests with 100% accuracy for sample distribution to internal and external research groups.

     

    Demonstrates knowledge of human subjects research regulatory compliance, with specific knowledge of guidelines surrounding Protected Health Information (PHI) and institutional biospecimen safety regulations.

     

    Performs laboratory assays according to provided standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regularly evaluates quality metrics, maintains adequate laboratory records, and communicates with appropriate laboratory personnel to ensure timely and accurate completion of laboratory goals.

     

    Performs other assigned tasks with high fidelity and within assigned deadlines.

     

    *Bioinformatics Support (30%)*

     

    Accurately maintains laboratory data, including sequencing files, in institutional storage according to established laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs).

     

    Performs informatic support tasks, such as building an running established informatic pipelines, archiving and retrieving data, and documentation of relevant laboratory informatic processes according to instructions provided by the laboratory team and principal investigator.

     

    Performs other assigned tasks with high fidelity and within assigned deadlines.

     

    *Onsite Presence:* 100% onsite

     

    Education Required - Bachelor's Degree in a basic Science.

     

    Experience Required - 1 year scientific or experimental research work experience.

    Experience Preferred - Experience in RNA, DNA extraction, molecular biology and/or tissue culture

    Education Preferred - Master's Degree Basic Science. No experience required with preferred degree.

     

    This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
