    Job Title: Medical ReceptionistJob Description

     

    The Medical Receptionist plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the healthcare facility. This position involves answering incoming calls, directing them to appropriate staff, greeting and checking in patients for appointments, managing paperwork, scanning insurance cards, and entering demographic information into the electronic health record. The receptionist also enters referrals for office visits into the EMR, scans documents for staff, directs patients to other suites in the building, and collaborates closely with physicians, staff, and hospital personnel.

    Responsibilities

    + Answer telephones and direct callers to the appropriate staff member, transferring calls to voicemail when necessary.

    + Greet and direct all patients to the practice.

    + Take and receive messages for various personnel.

    + Provide callers with information such as company address, directions, fax numbers, website, and other related details.

    + Receive, sort, and fax incoming medical lab reports and distribute them to appropriate staff.

    + Coordinate the pick-up and delivery of express mail services like FedEx and UPS.

    + Assist in the ordering, receiving, stocking, and distribution of office supplies.

    + Perform clerical duties such as photocopying, faxing, scanning, collating, and mailing.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in handling prior authorizations and refilling prescriptions.

    + Strong customer service skills.

    + Experience with front desk operations and clerical tasks.

    + Knowledge of healthcare and medical procedures.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + At least 2 years of experience as a Medical Receptionist.

    + High school diploma required.

    Work Environment

    The work environment is a busy medical center with operations from Monday to Friday. The hours are Mondays from 9:30 am to 5 pm, Tuesdays from 8 am to 4 pm, Wednesdays from 8 am to 6 pm, Thursdays from 9:30 am to 5 pm, and Fridays from 9 am to 12:30 pm.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $22.00/hr.
