Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Are you passionate about advancing equity, supporting older adults, and building inclusive communities? Queens Community House (QCH), a multi-site nonprofit serving the diverse population of Queens, is seeking a dedicated Assistant Director for the Queens Center for Gay Seniors (QCGS)—the only Older Adult Center in Queens specifically serving LGBTQ+ older adults.
About QCH and QCGS
QCH provides individuals and families with tools to enrich their lives and create healthy, inclusive communities. QCGS offers vital services and programs for LGBTQ+ older adults, including benefits counseling, case assistance, health and wellness activities, congregate meals, volunteer opportunities, support groups, arts and educational programs, and cultural trips.
Your Impact
As the Assistant Director, you will play a key role in managing daily operations, supporting staff and volunteers, ensuring contract compliance, and enhancing program visibility and effectiveness. Your work will directly support LGBTQ+ older adults in accessing resources, building community, and improving their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
+ Support the development and execution of health, wellness, and educational/recreational programs.
+ Assist with contract compliance, including meal program oversight and fiscal performance goals.
+ Supervise staff, interns, and volunteers while fostering an inclusive, welcoming environment.
+ Maintain program documentation, attendance records, and monthly reporting in databases (e.g., NYC Aging).
+ Provide information, referrals, and case assistance to participants as needed.
+ Coordinate outreach and advocacy efforts, program expansion, and community engagement activities.
+ Manage program budgets, order supplies, and support fundraising initiatives.
+ Act as Director in their absence and provide coverage for agency-wide initiatives when needed.
What You’ll Bring
+ Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field required.
+ Minimum two years’ experience working with older adults in community settings.
+ Familiarity with LGBTQ+ communities and issues (or a strong willingness to learn).
+ Knowledge of benefits/entitlements and community outreach preferred.
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to manage a dynamic congregate space.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); PeerPlace and Simple Servings experience a plus.
+ Commitment to confidentiality, cultural competence, and teamwork.
