The Covey Center for the Arts is hiring part-time Concessions Workers to assist with concessions sales before, during, and after for performances at the Arts Center. This position involves money handling, processing food orders in-person and, in the near future, online, and assisting with crowd-flow before, during and after for performances, including during intermission. Qualified, friendly, and civic-minded individuals interested in participating in the performing arts services provided to Provo City’s residents and all of Utah county are encouraged to apply.

What is the compensation?
Pay Rate: $14.00 per hour. Payment will be by direct deposit.

What will I do?
+ Sell concessions at the concessions counter before performances, during intermission, and after performances.
+ Process food and beverage orders quickly and efficiently.
+ Clean concessions area and theater after performances.
+ Count money.
+ Balance daily deposits.
+ Interact with the public with a friendly and cheerful disposition.
+ Collaborate with other staff members.
+ Deal with occasional adverse and stressful situations.
+ Do minor lifting and moving (boxes and cases of food and beverages as needed).
+ Perform custodial tasks as needed and assist others as assigned.
What do I need to apply?
+ Must be 16 years or older at the time of hire.
+ Must have a working knowledge of computers.
+ Must have experience working with money.
+ Must have experience working with the public.
+ Must have the physical strength and agility to perform the work.
+ Must have the ability to follow directions and communicate with others.
+ Preference will be given to those with previous food handling experience.
What are the hours?
Hours will be during Covey Center performances. Typical hours are Monday through Saturday, 6:30 PM – 10:00 PM. Some hours will fall during the day in the case of matinees – these typically occur on Saturdays from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This position will require an average of 20 hours per week.
What are the physical and environmental factors?This work requires: serving customers food and beverage items; interacting with the public with a friendly and cheerful demeanor; using an iPad or computer; handling cash; standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, lifting (up to 25 lbs.); and periods at a concessions counter.
What is the selection process?
This position is open until filled and will be closed when sufficient, qualified applications to proceed with a competitive selection process have been received (at least seven days). Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.
If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
