We’re looking for a visionary Director of Sourcing and Category Management – Healthcare to help drive a strategic evolution in our enterprise procurement model. Formed to elevate category management within healthcare services, this team is focused on developing forward-looking sourcing strategies, strengthening stewardship across supply categories, and deepening collaboration with business partners. What** **You’ll** **Do
+ Lead and inspire a high-performing sourcing and vendor management team, aligning efforts with enterprise goals and our core mission and values.
+ Define and execute a long-term, forward-thinking sourcing strategy that delivers innovation, cost efficiency, and business value across assigned categories.
+ Oversee end-to-end sourcing operations, including category management, strategic and tactical sourcing, contract negotiation, supplier relationship management, procurement analytics, and technology enablement.
+ Establish and maintain a comprehensive vendor governance framework that ensures compliance, transparency, and accountability.
+ Drive performance excellence by developing and publishing vendor scorecards and key performance metrics to support data-driven decision-making.
+ Champion best practices by training business stakeholders on vendor management policies, governance protocols, and compliance standards.
+ Shape the vision and direction of the sourcing and vendor management function, ensuring alignment with enterprise sourcing strategies and guiding principles.
+ Manage and mentor teams responsible for sourcing strategy execution, operational activities, and stakeholder training on vendor management playbooks and processes.
+ Collaborate cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to understand business needs and align sourcing strategies accordingly.
+ Promote ethical standards and ensure strong compliance across all sourcing and vendor management activities.
+ Foster a culture of continuous improvement, driving innovation and operational excellence throughout the organization.
What You Bring
+ Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of broad-based experience in strategic sourcing or category management.
+ 5 years of people leadership experience.
+ Strong background in sourcing strategy development with significant experience working with financial accounting, procurement related economic and financial analyses, contract management, and supplier management concepts.
+ Significant project management experience related to sourcing activities.
+ In lieu of degree, 12+ years of experience in related field

+ Demonstrated success in developing and executing sourcing strategies across complex, multi-category healthcare environmentsincluding healthcare analytics, care management, payment integrity, and pharmacy.
+ Deep expertise in contract negotiation and drafting, with a strong track record of securing favorable terms and mitigating risk.
+ Proficient in leveraging procurement technologies and analytics platforms to drive data-informed decision-making.
+ Proven ability to build strong cross-functional relationships, influence senior stakeholders, and lead enterprise-wide initiatives.
+ Experienced in leading high-performing teams, fostering a collaborative culture, and providing coaching and mentorship to support professional growth and long-term career development.
+ Strong understanding of compliance, risk management, and regulatory frameworks within sourcing and category management.
+ Exceptional communication, leadership, and change management skills, with a focus on driving strategic transformation.

Salary Range
At Blue Cross NC, we take great pride in a fair and equitable compensation package that reflects market-price and our starting salaries are typically planned near the middle of the range listed. Compensation decisions are driven by factors including experience and training, specialized skill sets, licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs. Our base salary is part of a robust Total Rewards package that includes an Annual Incentive Bonus*, 401(k) with employer match, Paid Time Off (PTO), and competitive health benefits and wellness programs.
