    Overview

     

    The IS Mechanical Designer I will design mechanical systems, components, or assemblies using engineering principles.

    Responsibilities

    + Works closely with project managers, engineers and contractors to create unique high-level concepts and designs for all assigned projects.

    + Works closely with the team to ensure the successful execution of goals of all assigned projects.

    + Conducts field surveys to identify existing equipment types and system capabilities.

    + Produces design documents including drawings, system flow diagrams and architecture, wiring diagrams, construction details, and equipment scheduling.

    + Delivers concepts and designs according to strict project deadlines.

    + Contributes to all areas of the creative process and department.

    + Performs work under direct supervision.

    + Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.

    + Assist with the development of technical reports or related documents.

    + Other duties as assigned or required.

    Qualifications

    Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications

    + Associate degree in HVAC Technology, Building Systems Engineering, Construction Management, or related field

    + 1-2 years' experience with building construction, especially mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or automatic temperature controls.

    + Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT

    + Strong technical skills

    + Effective oral and written communications skills

    + Vision and Creativity

    + Ability to meet deadlines

    + Planning skills

    + Possesses beginning to working knowledge of the subject matter.

    + Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.

    + Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.

    Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications

    + Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree

    + Building Automation System design and sequence writing experience - Preferred systems include Siemens, JCI, Honeywell, Trane, Struxureware, and Tridium

    + HVAC Design and Commissioning experience - Preferred systems include Chilled Water, Heating Water, Condenser Water, and Steam

    + Higher Education and Healthcare design experience

    Travel Requirements

    + 10-25% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.

    Physical Activities

    + Climbing stairs.

    + Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods

    + Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers

    + Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another

    + Operating machinery and/or power tools

    + Operating motor vehicles or heavy equipment

    + Outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind

    + Small and/or enclosed spaces

    Physical Demands

    + Light work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 20 pounds
