    MIG Welder

     

    Currently hiring MIG welders in the University Park, IL area. Hiring immediately.

    Job Description

    + Perform welding on mild carbon steel in horizontal, vertical, and circular positions.

    + Utilize grinders and other hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, and hammers.

    + Read blueprints occasionally to guide welding activities.

    + Use hand carts to pull necessary material orders.

    + Complete projects within allotted target times, which vary based on experience and product complexity.

    + Lift up to 75 lbs as required.

    + Operate hydraulic welding tables efficiently.

    + Spend 90% of the day on MIG welding and 10% on transporting materials and using hand tools.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficiency in MIG welding.

    + Ability to read and interpret tape measures accurately.

    + Experience in welding across vertical, horizontal, and circular positions.

    + Capacity to lift up to 75 lbs.

    Work Environment

     

    The work environment includes 40 welding booths equipped with hydraulic tables, fabrication machinery, conveyors, and forklifts. It is a heavy industrial setting that is not well-lit and can be dirty. Employees work independently in their own welding booths but interact with their team lead or supervisor throughout the day. The workplace requires PPE including steel toe boots, eye protection, hoods, gloves, and sleeves, all of which are provided. This is a non-union environment where 65% of employees are Spanish speaking. Shift options include 1st shift from 6:00 am to 3:30 pm, 2nd shift from 3:30 pm to 11:00 pm, and 3rd shift from 10:30 pm to 6:30 am.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
