Job Focus Area
This Education Consultant 3 is located within the Office of Teaching and Learning, Division of Academic Content and reports to an Education Consultant Supervisor. The Education Consultant 3 is responsible for implementing, designing, and coordinating activities associated with computer science content, standards, professional development, and instruction for grades K-12. Activities associated with this position include developing and/or reviewing high-quality curriculum and instructional materials; engaging district and school educators in the implementation of high-quality curriculum and teacher support structures; assisting in the management of teacher leader advisors and contractors whose work directly relates to K-12 computer science; and serving as a state leader in computer science.

•Ability to engage in the observation and review implementation to refine strategy and plans through an ongoing improvement cycle
•Experience in collaborating with multiple stakeholders to deliver a common and consistent message to the field in support of Louisiana’s academic strategy for computer science
•Previous project management experience
•Experience teaching computer science and/or serving as a computer science content expert
Minimum Qualifications
Seven years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
Six years of full-time work experience plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
A bachelor's degree plus four years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR
An advanced degree plus three years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.

Job Duties and Other Information

As an Education Consultant 3 located within the Office of Teaching and Learning, Division of Academic Content, you will be expected to:
+ Lead the coordination with the Department and LDOE field staff, teachers, principals, and district personnel for the implementation of state content standards for computer science
+ Maintain in-depth knowledge of the state computer science education plan and coordinates agency activities to implement and support outlined actions
+ Serve as the lead worker for the development and implementation of all aspects of computer science for K·12 students, teachers, principals, school system leaders and special schools, nonpublic schools, public and private colleges and universities, technical colleges
+ Initiate and sustain liaison with computer science-related programs, initiatives, and professional organizations at the local, regional, state, and national levels, including LDOE's Educator Development and Certifications teams, Board of Regents, educator preparation providers, Louisiana Workforce Commission, and business and industry professionals
+ Design, deliver, and/or facilitate presentations for professional development on standards-based computer science content and instruction, as requested by LDOE field staff or division director
+ Advise and provide technical assistance related to computer science to local superintendents of education, other educators, and other persons outside the field of education on programs, policies, procedures, laws, and regulations; and answers questions and assists in the resolution of problems
+ Plan, conduct, and evaluate staff development and in-service training (including national, state, and regional workshops, hearings, conferences) for personnel in the Department of Education, local education agencies, colleges and universities, technical colleges, correctional schools and institutions, as well as churches, civil associations, business and industry groups, special committees and task forces professional associations and organizations, special interest groups, parents, and other citizens
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.
Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Work Schedule:Work days are Monday - Friday; work hours will be determined.
Compensation:The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
**Note regarding the advertised pay range: The Education Consultant series have a special entrance rate that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions. The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career andnot the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire .
