LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry Orthodontics Department is seeking motivated applicants for the position of Dental Assistant 1 or 2.
Minimum Qualifications
One year of experience or training as a dental assistant or dental hygienist.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Duties and responsibilities included, but not limited to:
A. Assist dentists and dental students with chair side treatment of patients.
B. Maintain and stock cabinet
C. Instruct and evaluate students in proper four-handed dentistry techniques
D. Chart patients according to LSUSD systems (Axium Computer knowledge)
E. Give fluoride treatments as directed by dentist or student
F. Give follow-up home instructions as directed by dentist or student
G. Place rubber dam and directed by dentist or student
H. Remove cement supragingivally from dental restorations and fixed restorations
with hand instruments only as directed by the dentist or student.
I. Implement and maintain infection control in the work area.
J. Check inventory and order supplies when needed.
K. Implement and follow safety guidelines as set forth by LSUHSC School of
Dentistry and OSHA .
L. Know dental terminology.
M. Know correct nomenclature of all dental instruments.
N. Knowledgeable of computers.

These positions are in a Career Progression Group
As part of a Career Progression Group, vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a (Dental Assistant 1 or 2) depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s). Please refer to the ‘Job Specifications’ tab located at the top of the LA Careers ‘Current Job Opportunities’ page of the Civil Service website for specific information on salary ranges, minimum qualifications and job concepts for each level.
Pay is dependent upon applicants’ qualifications. There is an additional $1 Longevity Pay for hours worked only.
+ Pre-employment Drug testing and Criminal Background check are required.
+ This position will require selected applicant to be in a probationary status for at least 6 months.
