THE OPPORTUNITY
The Benefits Specialist is responsible for assisting the Benefits Team with daily duties related to the company benefit programs. Administers the company’s multi-state leave of absence (LOA), short-term and long-term disability plan applications, and responding to general benefit questions. Provides assistance in Benefits administration as needed including, but not limited to, health and welfare programs, wellness program, and 401(k). Assist in the new hire and termination processes when necessary. Performs all duties in accordance with the Company’s policies and procedures, all U.S. state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the Company operates.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
+ Day to day contact for all benefits questions, including 401(k). First point of contact for HR team related to Benefits. Researches, interprets, responds to and resolves inquiries from employees with Benefits questions and issues regarding benefits policies and procedures.
+ Perform duties related to the Leave of Absence (LOA) process and administration. Provides employees with all necessary LOA paperwork, submits claims for Employer portion of State Disability, Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability, and ensures the HRIS & leave management systems are maintained for accurate reporting of leave start/end dates. Serves as liaison with HR, Payroll, employee’s Manager/Supervisor, and employee to assist in the return to work process.
+ Responds to internal company and team member requests for information or status regarding benefits, Short-term Disability and Long-term Disability benefits.
+ Processes benefit payments in regards to LOAs. Responds to inquiries from insurance carriers and other benefit partners.
+ Works with Benefits Team on various wellness program projects, including coordinating communications campaigns, employee mailings and working with outside vendors as appropriate.
+ Processes verification of benefits requests (i.e. court orders, employee requests, medical support orders, subpoenas, etc.).
+ Processes invoices from benefits carriers and sends to the VP, Benefits Manager for approval.
+ Assist with any annual audits, filings, or testing of the benefits programs.
+ Manages benefits page on company portal as directed by VP, Benefits Manager.
+ Provides new hires with benefits information and follow up to ensure timely enrollment.
+ Provide benefit termination information to separated leave of absence employees.
+ Maintains employee files. Assists with gathering data as required for audits, federal and state filing, etc.
+ Complete all filings for CMS and DOL including providing company employment census data.

The employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations and orders issued pursuant to the OSHA Act of 1970, which are applicable to one’s own actions and conduct.
+ Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
+ Demonstrates knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, workers' compensation, Medicare, COBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements.
+ Effective communication skills, oral & written; strong organization skills. Works well under tight deadlines.
+ Working knowledge of HRIS systems.
+ Experience in Word, Excel.
+ Ability to multi-task with strong prioritization skills.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR LICENSES:
+ Required:
+ Minimum of 5 years of benefits and leave of absence experience
+ Preferred:
+ Experience with UKG and Benefits Administration
+ Experience with AbsenceSoft
Education & Certifications:
+ Required:
+ Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in Human Resources or related field
+ Preferred:
+ CBP or CEBS certification

SALARY RANGE
The full-time base salary range for this position is $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 USD a year. The base salary ultimately offered is determined through a review of education, industry experience, training, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant in alignment with market data and other factors.
