    Job Description Summary:

    The Lead Clinical Dietitian assesses the nutritional needs of individuals in health or disease and develops plans of care for meeting those needs with food, special enteral formulas or parenteral nutrition. He/She educates and counsels individuals and groups about nutrition as a component of preventative, curative or restorative health care, utilizing scientific knowledge as well as principles of behavior management.

    Responsibilities And Duties:

    Supports the new hiring process, including but not limited to: panel or individual interviews, orientation/onboarding process, hires, trains, supervises, builds team schedule, and evaluates the Clinical Nutrition team. Provides feedback to clinician and/or director regarding team performance and supports the talent review process. Supports development and implementation of clinical nutrition strategy, including, but not limited to: resource development/revision, evaluation of new programs, staffing analysis, process changes, cross-training, clinical practice standards/chart review/peer reviews, etc. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other departments and facilities to provide a unified approach to provide a unified approach to patient/resident care. Develops, maintains, revises, and communicates the team(s) schedule. Works collaboratively with colleagues across the organization by serving as a resource for service lines specialty. Supports organization communications. Performs nutrition assessment using age-appropriate standards, utilizing validated assessment tools and nutrition focused physical assessments. Includes documentation of nutrition related diagnosis when indicated. Demonstrate proficiency in accordance with Standards of Practice and Professional Performance for Registered Dietitian Nutritionist while providing age-appropriate plan of care for patients and families. Develops applicable meeting agendas that guide conversations to advocate for and strengthen the clinical nutrition team. Coordinates nutrition therapy with physicians and other health care professionals. Participates in multidisciplinary rounds and care planning sessions. Plans, implements, and adapts nutritional care plan to meet physician orders, age, and disease specific physiologic needs. Intervention plan includes appropriate feeding route, mode, and nutrition prescription. Monitors and evaluates patient response to medical nutrition therapy using specific goals and determines change if indicated. Performs patient, family, and care giver education related to nutritional therapy and incorporates best method of learning style and communication into sessions. Educates and trains interdisciplinary team members, students, and interns. Fosters teamwork and establishes effective strategies to implement innovative programs which leads to optimal clinical nutrition and financial outcomes. Supports quality improvement, research, and outcome studies. Identifies and communicates opportunities for waste reduction and service improvements. Documents accurately and completely, including appropriate utilization of order writing privileges in electronic medical record. Remains current on research developments and other methods of practice and incorporates this into current programs and services. Supports the development and revision of nutrition related department tools, training materials, policies, and procedures. Participates in the evaluation of clinical nutrition products and equipment. Complies with all regulatory standards, including federal, state, and accrediting agencies and adhere to facility confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and patient rights policies. Participates in and attend departmental meetings, staff development, and professional programs, as appropriate. Serves as an active member on multidisciplinary teams. Ensures national program standards are met and always maintained for certified and/or recognized programs, as applicable. Other duties as assigned.

     

    70%: Direct patient care related activities (i.e. nutrition assessment, multidisciplinary rounds, etc.) 20%: Team leadership activities (i.e. schedule development, program growth, etc.)

     

    10%: Indirect patient care related activities (i.e. record keeping, team education sessions, etc.)

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor's Degree (Required)LBOD - Licensed by Ohio Board of Dietetics - Certifying Board for Dietary Managers, LIC - Licensed in Field - State of Ohio, RD - Registered Dietician - Commission on Dietetic Registration

    Additional Job Description:

    Bachelor's Degree from accredited college program, Registered Dietitian with Commission on Dietetic Registration, Licensed by Ohio Board of Dietetics
