    Position Purpose:

    The Winter4Kids Athletics Race Coach is responsible for delivering and creating a safe and fun training environment for our athletes. Our coaches guide participants through the Winter4Kids experience, as a mentor and role model for groups of school age participants. Coaches partner with instructors to implement the day’s teaching plan, facilitate games and activities, and assess the abilities of their group.

    Qualifications:

    + Must hold and maintain a current U.S. Ski and Snowboard Coaches License

    + Maintain and hold NYSSRA membership.

    + Strong skiing and coaching background required to ski safely & confidently in all snow conditions, on varying moderate types of terrain and weather.

    + Level 100 or higher U.S. Ski and Snowboard Certification or foreign equivalent preferred

    + U.S. Ski and Snowboard race experience preferred

    + P.S.I.A Certification preferred

    + Must be ab le to work with and communicate to children and parents

    + Must be able to communicate and work with other coaches and employees at and away from W4K

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    + Understand basics of the ICR and ACR

    + Understand and apply Clean Hill initative

    + Ability to help athletes improve upon their ski racing ability

    + Ability to demonstrate proper movement and technique

    Responsibilities:

    + Guide groups of athletes in a fun & engaging training formats.

    + Mentor participants on Core Values

    + Attend on and off snow coaches training sessions

    + Ability to teach proper technique appropriate to the participants’ ability level.

    + Promote safety & provide athletes with guidelines for safe skiing.

    + Set up and monitor training enviroments

    + Build and publish weekly training plan in a timely manner

    Work Environment & Physical Demands:

    + Ability to ski and carry up to 75 lbs. of gear

    + Must be able to push, lift or pull up to 50lbs

    + Ability to observe staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate management techniques

    + Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.

    + Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist participants in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers

     

    Some physical requirements of this position include standing, running, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate equipment and demonstrate sports activities. Requires a normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate training activities/program.

    Hourly Pay Rate: UP TO $17.63
