    Microsoft Entra Identity is a foundation for the Azure cloud security and operation, safeguarding over 800,000 organizations. The Intelligent Data Experience (IDX), the data team for the Microsoft Entra division, processes trillions of signals daily to generate actionable insights for Microsoft customers and internal partners. We are looking for a Software Engineer equally passionate about developing scalable services, as well as about delivering the value of big data. As a member of the team, you will develop advanced analytics capability while integrating with Security Copilot and building new AI-agentic experiences. You will help to define data development roadmap, lead improvements in efficiency, and deliver data insights to the partners and customers of Microsoft Security division.

    Responsibilities

    + Design and build scalable, secure, and compliant cloud services leveraging power of big data.

    + Contribute to the continual improvement of the data architecture, operational excellence, and live site experiences.

    + Define and execute data engineering roadmap

    + Conduct design and code reviews ensuring development best practice

    + Direct research on potential technology solutions and implementations in support of new initiatives and opportunities.

    Qualifications

    Required** **Qualifications

    + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

    + OR equivalent experience.

    + 2+ years of experience in developing distributed systems or cloud services in any public cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, GCP) with focus on security, compliance, and supportability.

    + 1+ years of experience building high scale cloud solutions with one or more of the big data technology stacks such as Microsoft Synapse, Hadoop, Spark, NoSQL, Kafka

    + 1+ years of experience with data analysis, ML, Generative AI, Copilot, or Agentic-AI

    Other Requirements:

    Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

     

    + **Microsoft Cloud Background Check:** This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

    + OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

    + OR equivalent experience.

    + Design, analytical, and problem-solving skills with an emphasis on quality and engineering excellence.

    + Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment

    + Self‐motivated, self‐directed, and attentive to detail

    + Strategic thinker combined with strong ability to execute

    + Solid verbal and written communication

     

    Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
