Summary You will serve as a Safety and Electrical Trainer/Inspector in the Public Works Directorate (PW), Resources and Assessment Division Safety Branch at the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Southwest (NAVFAC SW). Responsibilities You will serve as an electrical/mechanical safety instructor and subject matter expert relating to the Safe Acts for Employees (SAFE) programs, which include Electrical (ESAFE) and Mechanical (MSAFE). You will be responsible for traveling and training PWDs/MPD personnel on ESAFE subjects and other related safety trainings, throughout NAVFAC SW region. You will perform hands-on management of a training schedule, course materials, and other training tools. You will administer other related safety programs to make sure employees have the training and equipment necessary to perform their jobs safely. You will assist in the review, development, and revisions of standard operating procedures, textbooks, and other safety related documents. You will plan and institute electrical/mechanical hazard communication awareness and educational activities. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing extensive technical knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and National Fire protection Association and approved publications, regulations, state and local laws to evaluate and recommend significant hazard control techniques to reduce or eliminate unhealthy operations and conditions. 2) Coordinating with engineers, safety managers and other health professionals to recognize job related illnesses. 3) Performing electrical safety design analysis on various machines, systems, processes, and facilities. 5) Implementing occupational safety and health programs for internal and external commands as required. 6) Participating in emergency and accident preparedness in direct relation to actual or potential accidents involving employee health hazards.
