    Summary The Architect of the Capitol (AOC) is seeking a Retail Coordinator to support the Capitol Visitor Center (CVC) Retail Division. The Retail Coordinator is responsible for retail planning, merchandising, visual presentation, administrative functions, contract surveillance support, and store operational support for the CVC’s gift shops, e-commerce, and food operations. Responsibilities This position is pivotal to the successful execution of retail operations that enhance the visitor experience at the U.S. Capitol. As a Retail Coordinator, you will: Assist with merchandise presentation updates, signage, floor changes, seasonal promotions, and product launches. Determine initial product stocking levels and adjust based on sales trends. Collect and analyze sales data to support reporting and strategic decisions. Monitor vendor compliance with service standards, cleanliness, and staffing; gather feedback to assess contractor performance. Draft product copy for e-commerce and coordinate marketing activities with the Creative Marketing Division and eCommerce Manager. Manage calendars, prepare documents, coordinate meetings, and support safety initiatives for the Retail Division. Compile retail reporting requirements from various business lines, utilizing the Point of Sale and Financial Management Systems. Process purchase orders, manage merchandise documentation, and maintain historical merchandising databases. Acquire and maintain office equipment and develop office automation procedures and documentation. Provide customer service to visitors, respond to inquiries, and support retail business processes. Perform timekeeping tasks, cash handling duties, daily cash counts, deposit preparation, and reconciliation for the gift shops. Ensure compliance with OSHA, AOC, and safety regulations, including use of PPE and participation in safety training. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be able to pass a drug test. Your resume and question responses must demonstrate the job-related KSAs. You must meet the definition of specialized experience. You must meet the definition of specialized experience. Qualifications You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. You must meet all eligibility and qualifications requirements by the closing date of the job announcement. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Candidates for the GS-08 grade level must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Coordinating retail operations, including merchandising, promotions, and inventory management. Supporting contract oversight activities (e.g., monitoring vendor performance, maintaining compliance logs). Utilizing financial or point-of-sale systems to compile data and prepare reports. Performing administrative functions, such as preparing purchase orders, managing schedules, and processing timekeeping. Providing customer service and cash handling responsibilities in a retail environment. Education There are no educational requirements for this position. Additional Information Welcome Veterans.
