    Job Summary

    Lead the research and development of electrochemical processes for critical material extraction, refinement, and production. The postdoctoral researcher will join a dynamic and interdisciplinary team working on federally and industry funded projects aimed at advancing technologies in sustainable mineral recovery, direct extraction from aqueous sources, and electrochemical materials processing. The position offers opportunities to contribute to high-impact research, mentor junior researchers, and collaborate across academia and industry.

    Responsibilities

    + Conduct research and development of electrochemical separation processes for critical materials, including synthesis and characterization of electrode materials

    + Design, operate and optimize electrochemical reactors and separation systems, analyze and interpret data using electrochemical and materials characterization techniques (e.g., CV, EIS , SEM , ICP - OES )

    + Manage project timelines, milestones, and deliverables in coordination with sponsors and collaborators

    + Prepare technical documents, including peer-reviewed journal articles, patents, reports, and research proposals

    + Supervise and mentor research associates, graduate students, and undergraduate assistants

    + Ensure compliance with safety protocols and contribute to lab operations and maintenance

    + Participate in team meetings and present research findings to internal and external stakeholders

    Minimum Qualifications

    + PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrochemistry, or related field

    + Demonstrated track record of research excellence through publications and/or patents

     

    Preferences

     

    Strong background in electrochemical systems, materials development,

     

    + Experience with lithium extraction, intercalation materials and flow battery is desirable

    + Excellent communication, technical writing, and organizational skills

    + Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative research team
