    Summary This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Professional Work Category at the Full Performance Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA J6(GSVC)/JOINT SERVICE PROVIDER - ENTERPRISE SERVICES CENTER (JP311). Responsibilities Serves as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist Network Operations Center (NOC) Watch Officer (WO) for the Joint Service Provider (JSP). Acts as a Watch Officer and works closely with military officers and Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) who augment the Watch Team. Interfaces, coordinates, and resolves issues with multiple senior government managers and Pentagon command centers. Conducts situational analysis of military operations mission requirements and resources and makes recommendations to the JSP Operations Director. This role involved coordinating support on rotational shifts (Days, Swings, Mids) for systems and services provided to the Joint Service Provider and Pentagon Force Protection Agency. Supports encompassed a wide array of IT domains, including networking, voice services, security operations, messaging, storage, applications, VTC, facilities, desktop, and enterprise backup and recovery. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. Basic Requirements: Attention to Detail- Experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been asked by others to review their work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards. Customer Service - Experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products and services that are tailored to meet customer needs. Oral Communication - Briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience. Problem Solving - Identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions. Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-12, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, qualifying experience is defined as experience providing advice and assistance to customers with installing and troubleshooting applications to minimizes interruptions and experience assisting in planning, coordinating, analyzing, developing, or implementing information systems security programs. Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement. Education There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the GG-12 grade level. Additional Information This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system. If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment. This appointment does not confer eligibility to be non-competitively converted to an appointment in the competitive service. A three year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service. Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination. Individuals tentatively selected for drug testing designated positions at the Defense Information Systems Agency will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment or placement. We may use this announcement to fill additional vacancies within 90 days of the closing date. Moving costs MAY be paid. This position has been designated as "Mission Essential." Incumbent will be required to report to work or relocate to a new duty location, within the United States, in times of local/national emergency. This position is covered under DoD Manual 8140 which will be subject to future Cyber Workforce requirements as defined by the Manual. Employee is subject to recall or call back during off-shift hours, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, if required by upper management. Requires availability on an on-call 24-hr basis via government provided laptop, blackberry, and/or remote dial-in. Overtime and COMP time may be required as workload demands. Shift work required. Shift hours will be: 1st shift (0800-1600), 2nd shift (1600-1200) and 3rd shift (1200-0800). Selectee must possess or be able to obtain an Information Assurance Management (IAM) Level II commercial certification, within 6 months of employment. Employee is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for this position as outlined in DoD Publication 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program dated 19 December 2005 (incorporating Change 1, 15 May 2008).
