Job Description Summary
As a Principal Cloud Architect for the GE Aerospace Shared Technology Services-Digital Workplace team (STS-DW), you will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of cloud infrastructure to support our product portfolio across core services such as Collaboration, Document Management, Email, Productivity Software, Computers, Mobility, Peripheral Devices and Remote Support. You will be responsible for developing secure, scalable, and resilient cloud solutions that align with business requirements and industry best practices.
Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure & Database Engineering, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, ensure operational excellence, and deliver value to GE Aerospace’s global user base. Your expertise in cloud technologies, DevOps methodologies, and infra/architecture will be instrumental in transforming the Digital Workplace experience for 60,000+ users worldwide.
Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
+ Develop and implement cloud architectures (AWS and Azure) that are secure, scalable, and compliant, supporting regulated workloads and business-critical applications for Digital Workplace
+ Collaborate with Product, Dev, Operations, Cloud and Cyber teams to ensure cloud solutions meet business requirements and compliance standards
+ Design strategy for our Infrastructure as Code (IaC) processes and build Standard Work for consistency and robustness
+ Support DevOps team by designing and developing IaC scripts and automating deployments
+ Lead the separation and migration of Digital Workplace applications from GE Corp AWS infrastructure to GE Aerospace AWS infrastructure, ensuring minimal disruption and optimal performance
+ Guide and define best practices for our Docker/Kubernetes based Cloud environments i.e. AWS EKS, and Azure AKS
+ Leverage monitoring and observability tools such as New Relic, Grafana, Splunk, or ELK stack to ensure system reliability and performance
+ Implement automated lifecycle management technologies (e.g., vulnerability management, patching, tagging, updates) at scale to ensure infrastructure health and compliance
+ Advocate for a DevOps mindset, mentor team members on cloud technologies, and drive the adoption of best practices across the organization.
+ Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and trends, mapping them to GE Aerospace’s vision and strategy to drive innovation and future roadmaps
+ Drive visibility for our Cloud environments and evangelize it for Stakeholders for their application hosting
Basic Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience OR an Associate’s degree with minimum of 13 years of professional experience OR a High School Diploma with a minimum of 15 years of professional experience
+ A minimum of 5 years of experience in public cloud such as AWS and Azure
+ A minimum of 4 years of experience managing infrastructure in AWS
+ A minimum of 4 years of experience in DevOps and Infrastructure domain
+ A minimum of 4 years of leading large scale enterprise projects in Cloud environments
+ Note: Military experience is considered equivalent to professional experience

Desired Characteristics:
Technical Expertise:
+ Primary role in recent positions must be as an infrastructure architect, principal software engineer/cloud engineer, or Principal SRE working with cloud technologies
+ Solid understanding of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration platforms (AKS/EKS)
+ Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Go, and scripting experience (e.g., Bash, PowerShell)
+ Solid understanding of operating systems, especially Linux, and system engineering experience
+ Knowledge of security best practices and compliance standards for cloud environments
+ Demonstrated experience delivering infrastructure in a secure, compliant manner to enable regulated workloads is a strong plus
+ Ability to influence and create new designs, architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale distributed systems
+ A prior or current certification on the Azure or AWS platforms is a strong plus
+ Experience with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., New Relic, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana)
+ In-depth knowledge on Agile and DevOps methodologies
+ Proven track record of leading large-scale cloud migration projects
+ Experience with High Availability, Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity processes
Business and Leadership Expertise:
+ Prior experience with Digital Workplace services is a huge plus
+ Comfortable working with different Agile software development methodologies
+ Architecting Business solutions for enterprise applications
+ Ability to determine how to integrate disparate systems effective to optimize operational processes
+ Demonstrated strong technical, analytical and problem-solving skills
+ Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across teams and influence stakeholders
+ Proactively identifies and removes project obstacles or barriers on behalf of the team
+ Able to influence peers and leadership cross-functionally with data-driven solutions, hypotheses, and theories
