    Job Summary

    As the Project Healthy Schools (PHS) Program Manager, you will lead a statewide youth health initiative, transforming the well-being of K-12 students across Michigan. You will oversee daily operations, ensuring continued success and expansion by implementing the latest, evidence-based programs. You'll also lead and empower a dedicated team, encouraging their growth and aligning their efforts with the University's strategic vision.

     

    In this important role, you will cultivate important community and academic partnerships, expanding program reach and influence. You'll manage funding and ensure budget oversight in collaboration with partners, optimizing resources. You will also guide marketing and communications to increase program visibility and collaborate with research teams to achieve measurable health outcomes. You will report directly to the Senior Director for Health and Well-being Services.

    Responsibilities*

    + Responsible for the leadership oversight of daily operations and strategic direction of the Project Healthy Schools (PHS) programs, including the development, promotion, implementation, and evaluation of all PHS programs, activities and operations.

    + Develop yearly program goals that support school needs and are informed by evidence-based and public-health informed strategies, while also aligning with Health and Well-being Services/MHealthy, University Human Resources (UHR), Business & Finance and university strategic directions and compliance requirements (such as ensuring Children on Campus processes are met to insure the safety/well-being of students).

    + Work with the U-M's Michigan Clinical Outcomes Research and Reporting Program (MCORRP) research team to assess the PHS program and report on outcomes.

    + Oversee and support all programmatic marketing and communications, including print, digital, and social media, to enhance program visibility and engagement.

    + Hire, train, schedule, coach, and evaluate performance of the PHS team, ensuring comprehensive onboarding and ongoing development for all members.

    + Engage, mentor, support staff in their development and integration into the positive values within MHealthy. Manage employee relations and performance concerns.

    + Explore opportunities for long-term, sustainable funding for the PHS program and creatively seek funding and grant opportunities.

    + Oversee budgets in partnership with the MHealthy Finance Team.

    + Foster relationships with internal UM partners and K-12 schools, school districts, and community partnerships.

    + Represent PHS both internally and to local, state, and national organizations.

    Required Qualifications*

    + Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public health, education, health education, non-profit management, or a related field OR an equivalent combination of experience and education.

    + 3+ years of experience developing, implementing, and evaluating public health or K-12 school-based health programs, including curriculum development and the use of digital learning tools.

    + 1+ years fundraising experience.

    + 1+ years experience of managing grants and overseeing budgets, or transferable financial operations experience

    + Supervisory experience leading a team of direct reports in a formal professional setting, including conducting regular check-ins, delivering performance feedback, and encouraging a collaborative work environment.

    + Demonstrated experience engaging and working with external groups and different partners to administer a program.

     

    Work Locations

     

    May require use of personal vehicles to visit K-12 schools across the state of Michigan up to 10% of the time during the K-12 school year. Mileage will be reimbursed according to University policy.
