The role you'll contribute:

The Clinical Dietitian works closely with the interdisciplinary health care team to provide nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy that are integrated and compatible with the patient's medical program goals and objectives. Primary responsibilities include developing and implementing nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy using established standards of care and practice protocol/guidelines; managing resources in a cost effective manner; participating in performance improvement efforts; and maintaining professional competency and skills required for professional practice.

The value you'll bring to the team:

+ PATIENT CARE: Utilizes hospital policies and procedures to identify patients with nutritional risk and provides expert nutrition assessment. Evaluates and monitors nutritional status of hospitalized patients ranging from newborn to geriatric populations as well as cultural, religious, and ethnic concerns, using established standards of care.

+ NUTRITION EDUCATION: Provides professional nutrition counseling that is age and culture specific. Identifies educational needs and provides current, hospital approved, nutrition education that is sensitive to the patient's learning need, condition, readiness to learn, literacy, hearing language and age. BUSINESS/SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS: Supports the department's goals and objectives. Attends department meetings and remains up to date with department activities, communications and changes.

+ PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT: Participates in the hospital's performance improvement processes. Gathers, collects and reports data as requested including daily clinical activities.

+ PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Maintains dietetic registration and continuing education requirements. Develops and implements an individualized plan for professional growth and development including participation in professional organizations and activities, workshops, seminars, and staff development programs.

The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:

Minimum qualifications:

+ Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics Required and Bachelor's in dietetics, foods and nutrition, or related area Required

+ Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) Required

+ Florida Department of Health Dietitian/Nutritionist license Required

Preferred qualifications:

+ Master's in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, Nutritional Sciences, Human Nutrition, or nutrition related field Preferred

+ 1 acute care setting Preferred

+ Acute Care and Rehabilitation Preferred

+ CNSC - Certified Nutrition Support Clinician Preferred

+ CDE - Certified Diabetes Educator Certification Preferred
