    Description

    SAIC is seeking a highly motivated **Junior Systems Engineer** with foundational experience in systems administration, virtualization, and automation tools. The engineer will assist in supporting and deploying infrastructure solutions across classified environments, including Windows and Linux systems, virtual machines, and enterprise applications. This entry-level role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and contribute to secure, resilient architectures used by research teams and military personnel.

     

    The engineer will be part of a collaborative multidisciplinary IT team that supports innovation for the Air Force’s Munitions Directorate. Our ideal candidate is a team player who is eager to learn, adaptable, and excited to grow in a high-security, mission-driven environment.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor's Degree & 2 years of experience; OR 6+ years of experience in lieu of a degree

    + Basic experience with VMware platforms (vSphere, vCenter, or Horizon)

    + Exposure to automation or scripting tools such as **Terraform, Packer, Ansible, or PowerShell**

    + Familiarity with **Windows Server** and **Linux-based systems** (Ubuntu, CentOS, or RHEL)

    + Understanding of **Active Directory** , **DNS** , and basic networking concepts

    + Awareness of **Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)** and secure configurations

    + Interest in infrastructure-as-code and secure system deployments

    + Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills

    + Willingness to support Tier 1/Tier 2 troubleshooting and escalate as needed

    + Must have an active **Secret clearance with ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.**

    + Must have or be able to obtain **CompTIA Security+CE** within 90 days of hire

    + Ability to follow detailed instructions, document procedures, and take initiative to learn

    Desired Qualifications:

    + Experience writing or running **PowerShell** , **Linux shell** , or **Python scripts**

    + Exposure to container technologies such as **Docker**

    + Familiarity with endpoint protection tools, GPO, or SCCM

    + Interest or experience with hybrid cloud environments (Azure/AWS)

    + Previous internship, lab, or classroom experience with networked systems

    + Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
