Summary:
As an Opto-Mechanical Engineer at Meta, you will take a critical role in developing AR & VR Systems. You will become part of a team exploring new concepts through mechanical design, optical modeling, and fast iterative prototyping. A wide range of approaches will be explored combining electrical, mechanical, optical, firmware, and software techniques. We want people who work well in teams, can brainstorm big ideas, work in new technology areas, drive a concept into a prototype, and complex designs to a high-volume consumer product solution. We are looking for action oriented individual who can apply their mechanical and optical engineering expertise to solve problems in creative, insightful ways.

Opto-Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:
1. Drive development of opto-mechanical system requirements for advanced imaging and camera system technologies
2. Model, build, test, and refine prototypes and characterization test systems
3. Work across the full product development cycle, from concept inception to shipping product
4. Work with vendors worldwide
5. Push state-of-the-art technologies and approaches to solving complex mechanical problems
Minimum Qualifications:

6. BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
7. 8+ years of experience in related engineering positions
8. 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience in high-volume consumer electronics product development
9. Knowledge of material properties such as plastics, metal, adhesive, glass, PCBA, and flex circuit
10. Knowledge and application of GD&T techniques and knowledge of associated metrology approaches
11. Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing techniques (Stamping, machining, 3D printing, injection molding, etc.)
12. Experience in 3D design modeling (NX, SolidWorks, or Creo) and physical prototyping
13. Experience in testing and analysis (FEA, Simulation, Zemax, Ray Tracing, etc.)

14. MS in Mechanical Engineering
15. 7+ years of opto-mechanical experience for high volume products
16. Knowledge of cost effective, miniaturized optics & electrical component packaging, mounting, interfaces, and adhesive bonding
17. Knowledge or optics manufacturing techniques (glass lens, plastic lens, coatings, molding)
18. Experience in consumer electronics product development and/or manufacturing
19. Experience with mass production of systems requiring active optical alignment
20. Experience delivering multiple successful consumer products to production from concept inception to shipping product
21. Six sigma experience (Green Belt or Black Belt)
Public Compensation:
$170,000/year to $240,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
