As a Land Intern at Chevron, you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience working with teams in areas like asset development, exploration, land administration, base assets, and new energies. You will:
* **Gain real-world insight** into the upstream oil and gas industry through a summer-long Land project, complemented by smaller assignments that provide exposure to multiple Land teams.
* **Explore Chevron’s diverse operations** by engaging with teams across business segments. You’ll gain exposure to traditional oil and gas operations as well as having the opportunity to collaborate with Chevron New Energies, giving you a comprehensive view of the opportunities within our company.
* **Receive personalized support** through a dedicated mentor who will help you build your Land knowledge and guide you throughout the internship.
* **Understand the critical role** Land professionals play in Chevron’s exploration and production activities, and how they contribute to the company’s success.
* **Showcase your impact** by presenting your summer project experience to senior leaders at the conclusion of your internship.
Job Description:
As a Land Intern at Chevron, you’ll support cross-functional teams including Legal, Finance, and Operations by helping drive informed, strategic decisions. Your responsibilities may include:
* Negotiating with industry partners and landowners, and drafting agreements related to oil and gas exploration and production.
* Conducting title research to support exploration, asset development, optimization, and asset retirement activities.
* Supporting multidisciplinary teams on land ownership and agreement issues.
* Engaging with federal and state agencies on regulatory matters.
* Managing surface land issues such as access, water use, and fencing.
Qualifications:
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate the following attributes:

* **Commitment to learning and feedback:** Proactively engage with land professionals to quickly build a strong understanding of the land organization’s role and impact on oil and gas development. Candidates should be open to both giving and receiving constructive feedback, as well as recognizing and sharing positive feedback to foster a supportive and growth-oriented team environment.
* **Negotiation ability:** Use appropriate interpersonal skills and communication methods to establish effective relationships with third parties, including government agencies, landowners, and partner company representatives to negotiate the agreements and documentation necessary for oil and gas development.
* **Planning and organizational ability:** Demonstrate the ability to set priorities and guide yourself and others to ensure timely and efficient completion of work.
* **Team-oriented mindset:** Collaborate effectively within team settings and contribute to cross-functional initiatives to address business challenges.
* **Contract interpretation, drafting, and problem solving:** Review third-party contracts to ensure they align with company standards, and draft agreements that effectively support business objectives while remaining acceptable to external stakeholders. Analyze complex title opinions and chain-of-title documents to determine appropriate next steps.

* The compensation and reference to benefits for this role is listed on this posting in compliance with applicable law.
* The anticipated monthly range for this position is $6,923 - $7,692 monthly. The selected candidate’s monthly or hourly compensation will be determined based on their respective discipline, degree level and academic year for U.S. payroll offers.
