    In this position...

The Digital Manufacturing Systems (DMS) team at Ford is building the digital factory of the future—a software-defined manufacturing ecosystem that integrates process, product, and production to empower operators and engineers like never before. We operate at the intersection of advanced software, embedded systems, connected hardware, and real-time insights to enable Ford’s transformation into a Virtual First, Connected Factory that closes feedback loops in real time. Our goal is simple: make the operator’s life better while building safer, smarter, and more efficient plants worldwide.

As a key member of this innovative team, you will:

+ Create robust backend systems to support manufacturing applications that drive defect reduction, throughput improvements, and safety in global factories.

+ Build scalable APIs and data processing layers for real-time factory orchestration.

+ Collaborate with app, data, and hardware teams to integrate backend systems into Ford’s digital twin.

+ Support real-time insights for operator decision-making and automation.

+ Contribute to Ford’s diagnostics platforms for efficient assembly operations.

We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we’re all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves?

    What you'll do...

+ Develop and maintain efficient backend services, APIs, and data integrations for manufacturing applications.

+ Participate in the software lifecycle, focusing on design, implementation, testing, and optimization.

+ Contribute to key features, ensuring scalability and performance in real-time scenarios.

+ Debug and enhance system reliability, addressing issues in production environments.

+ Engage in code reviews, share knowledge and apply best practices in backend development.

+ Collaborate on technical decisions and adapt to new technologies in a manufacturing context.

+ Write secure, maintainable code aligned with industry standards.

    You'll have...

+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering, similar or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

+ 2 years experience building and deploying systems in production, with proven strong system design skills and proficiency in programming languages like Python, Go, C++, or Rust.

+ 6 months experience utilizing databases (SQL and/or NoSQL) and message queue technologies (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).

+ 6 months of experience utilizing cloud platforms (such as AWS or Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker).

    Even better, you may have…

+ Exposure to manufacturing or real-time systems.

+ Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!

As an established global company, we offer the benefit of choice. You can choose what your Ford future will look like: will your story span the globe, or keep you close to home?
