Job Summary

The Credentialing Specialist is responsible for leading, coordinating, and managing the credentialing and reappointment processes for physicians, advanced professionals, and practitioner support staff. This includes ensuring all applications meet the standards established by the Novant Health

Credentialing Council, affiliated entities’ Medical Staff Bylaws, applicable regulatory agencies, and federal law.

This role requires a detail-oriented individual who is eager to learn, adaptable to change, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment. The Credentialing Specialist provides direct support to practitioners and practice managers throughout the credentialing process, and is also responsible for keeping the Manager and Leadership of the Novant Health Credentialing & Medical Staff Operations (CMSO) Central Office informed on the status of applications and workflow progress.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Experience with CredentialStream (highly preferred)

+ Credentialing certification is a plus, but not required

+ Residency in North Carolina, with a strong preference for the Charlotte region

+ Strong organizational and communication skills

+ Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail

Qualifications

+ Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred.

+ Experience: Three (3) years of Credentialing, Provider Enrollment or Medical Staff Office experience; required.

+ Licensure/Certification: Certification by NAMSS (CPCS or CPMSM), preferred.

+ Additional Skills Required:

+ Ability to efficiently handle designated responsibilities independently in an accurate and timely manner.

+ Ability to positively interact with physicians, hospital personnel, and guests both in the office and on the phone.

+ Working knowledge of personal computers and software, including credentialing database, Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Excel, Word and other Windows environment programs.

+ Ability to work in an electronic environment and meet multiple deadlines.

+ Ability to be flexible and function in a fast-paced environment, multi-task environment with flexibility as needed often with with frequent interruptions.

+ Ability to appropriately adhere to all of the Novant Service Standards.

+ Must be able to follow instructions and policies and learn these appropriately.

+ Ability to work under pressure and remain calmly and effectively in difficult situations.

+ Ability to be a team player and take initiative.
