    Summary:

    The Sr. Director, Robotics Operations will assume a pivotal role in overseeing comprehensive fleet operations and the management of all robots developed by the organization. The leader will spearhead initiatives in areas ranging from assembly and quality control to teleoperation and support strategies, driving innovation and efficiency in a rapidly evolving environment. This position demands a visionary leader adept at navigating ambiguity, building robust systems from the ground up, and managing a diverse team and resources.

    Required Skills:

    Director, Robotics Operations Responsibilities:

    1. Fleet Operations Management: Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of robotic fleets, ensuring efficient tracking of locations, updates, repairs, and performance metrics. Develop and enforce KPIs to monitor fleet performance and drive continuous improvement.

    2. Assembly and Outsourcing: Manage the assembly of prototype robots, leveraging both in-house capabilities and outsourcing strategies to optimize production. Coordinate with external partners to ensure quality and efficiency in outsourced assembly processes.

    3. Quality Control and Management: Implement rigorous quality control mechanisms to ensure the robots meet high standards of performance and reliability. Lead initiatives for continuous quality improvement, utilizing operational insights and feedback.

    4. Teleoperation for Data Collection: Oversee teleoperation processes that facilitate effective data collection and ensure operational smoothness. Innovate teleoperational strategies to enhance data accuracy and efficiency.

    5. Support Plans for Robots in the Wild: Develop and execute comprehensive support plans for fully deployed systems, including remote operations and troubleshooting. Build standard operating procedures for maintenance, emergency support, and client interaction.

    6. Team Building and Management: Build and lead a diverse and high-performing team, including permanent staff and a contingent workforce, to execute operational strategies. Foster a collaborative team environment, encouraging innovation and professional growth.

    7. Strategic Development and System Building: Establish long-term strategic plans and develop systems in a 0->1 environment, demonstrating the ability to navigate uncharted territories and steer the organization toward achieving operational excellence.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    8. Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field

    9. 15+ years of experience in developing and leading high-performing teams that bring products to market and manage their life cycles

    10. Proven experience in robotics operations, fleet management, or a similar domain

    11. Exceptional leadership skills with experience in building and managing teams

    12. Demonstrated ability to work in highly ambiguous environments and develop long-term strategic plans

    13. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    14. Master's degree or higher in a related discipline

    15. Experience in managing a contingent workforce and coordinating with outsourcing partners

    16. Strong background in teleoperations and remote robotic support systems

    17. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels

    18. Demonstrated success in operational innovations and establishing processes from scratch

    Public Compensation:

    $309,000/year to $358,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
