    The challenge of safeguarding public health and ensuring regulatory adherence in buildings across the Dallas area

    requires a meticulous professional. UES, a premier and fast-growing engineering services firm, is searching for an

     

    Asbestos Technician with a **TDSHS Licensed Asbestos Building Inspector certification,** and a proven track record

     

    in environmental testing, to meet this challenge head-on.

     

    As an Asbestos Technician, your precision and expertise will be paramount. You will critically determine the location

    and assess the condition of suspected Asbestos Containing Building Materials (ACBM), confirming their presence through

    rigorous bulk sampling or professional assumption. Your commitment to detail will extend to developing comprehensive

     

    asbestos survey reports, and conducting air-monitoring, crucial for informed decision-making across our diverse clientele

     

    which includes schools, commercial buildings and residential properties.

    Responsibilities

    * Complete and finalize specific project tasks according to deadlines and within budget.

    * Communicate with clients and subject site representatives.

    * Provide on-site project management to complete asbestos testing.

    * Conducting asbestos surveys and sampling

    * Perform tests and sampling of environmental materials including, but not limited to air monitoring, lead, radon, mold testing and remediation, PLM, PCM and mold analyses.

    * Analyzing asbestos samples in a laboratory environment

    * Preparing and implementing asbestos management plans

    * Safely removing and disposing of asbestos-containing materials

    * Using personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring its proper maintenance

    * Cleaning and decontaminating work areas after asbestos removal

    * Maintaining detailed records of asbestos abatement activities

    * Complying with local, state, and federal regulations regarding asbestos

    * Operating specialized equipment for asbestos detection and removal

    * Providing training and guidance on asbestos safety practices

    * Communicating with clients and stakeholders about project status and safety measures

    Qualifications

    * High School Diploma or equivalent required, post-secondary education is considered an asset.

    * Excellent written (Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio (CAD equivalent)) and verbal communication skills

    * Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write technical documents and field reports.

    * Excellent observational, organizational, and time-management skills.

    * Completion of an accredited asbestos training program

    * Valid asbestos handling certification

    * Basic knowledge of safety regulations and protocols

    * Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

    * Ability to travel for field assignments and work in remote outdoor environments.

    Certifications:

    * TDSHS Licensed Asbestos Building Inspector (required)

    * TDSHS Licensed Asbestos Air-Monitoring Technician with NIOSH 582 Equivalency License (strongly preferred)

    * TDSHS Licensed Asbestos Project Manager, Management Planner, and/or Project Designer (preferred)

    * TDLR - Mold Assessment Technician or Consultant License (preferred)

    * TELRR Lead-Based Paint Inspector (preferred)

    * NRPP Radon Measurement Professional Certification (preferred)

    * OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER (preferred)

     

    Physical Demands & Work Environment

    This position primarily works in an outdoor work environment, regularly exposed to varying field conditions, including:

    * Sites that may not be accessible by vehicle, requiring travel on foot through wetlands, swamps, grasslands, fields, and other uneven or rugged terrain with natural and man-made obstacles such as sand, brush, and debris.

    * Moderate to loud noise levels, common in active construction and industrial environments.

    * Exposure to environmental elements including dirt, dust, sun, heat, humidity, and adverse weather conditions.

    The physical requirements for this position may include and are not limited to:

    * Ability to lift and/or carry 35 to 75 lbs. up to 75 feet, involving regular repetitive motion.

    * Ability to stand, walk, drive, and operate equipment for extended periods.

    * Frequent use of hands and arms for typing, handling tools, and operating equipment.

    * Ability to bend, twist, reach, stoop, pull, kneel, climb, balance, lift, carry, and push as required for fieldwork and inspections.

    * Ability to speak and hear effectively to communicate in noisy environments and with project teams.

    * Ability to use your senses to see (including close, distant, and peripheral vison, depth vision, and ability to focus) smell, hear, touch (use hands to reach climb or balance, crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit).
