    COVID Health Educator - State of Maine CDC in Augusta, ME

    • **Summary:**

     

    COVID Health Educators provide (1) outreach and education for the Infectious Disease Epidemiology Program, (2) coordination with the communication team including developing new materials, and (3) website maintenance and updates as a member of the Infectious Disease Epidemiology Team. Work is performed under administrative direction.

    Duties:

    + Develop fact sheets, frequently asked question documents, template letters, etc.

    + Develop and promote social media content for infectious disease conditions in coordination with the Maine CDC Communication team

    + Coordinate standardized education outreach to providers, school nurses, daycares, summer camps, etc.

    + Coordinate with graphic designers for development or revision of printed and digital materials.

    + Develop, maintain, and improve the Infectious Disease Epidemiology webpages

    + Present educational materials publicly through interviews, presentations, and written materials.

    + Develop and conduct health education trainings with internal and external stakeholders

    + Assist with grant writing and completing grant objectives.

    + Attend relevant meetings, work sessions, and conferences.

    + Contribute to Infectious Disease Surveillance evaluation, performance improvement, outbreak preparedness, and response planning

    + Assist in additional duties as reasonably assigned.

    Schedule:

    + These are full time 8 AM – 5 PM positions.Normal schedule is M-F, but modified schedules may be required as needed by Maine CDC.Hours worked over 45 are paid on a straight basis (hour for hour compensation) when specifically pre-approved in writing by the Maine CDC manager.

    + Each employee must conform to the State working schedule (i.e., snow days, holidays etc.), if the State of Maine is working the contractor will be required to work.

    + May routinely work remote four (4) days per week.One (1) day per week MUST be onsite at 286 Water Street, Augusta ME 04333.

     

    Requirements:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Community Health Education, or Education and two (2) years’ experience in community or health education program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation.

    + Directly related work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

    Preferred candidates will also have:

    + Excellent oral and written communication skills

    + Ability to gather, synthesize, and summarize a variety of information

    + Demonstrated skill applying best practices and standards for health communication, page layout, and information design.

    + The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of internal and external partners

    + Computer skills, including knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and graphic design software

    + Knowledge of and experience with website development and maintenance

    And the ability to:

    + Communicate complex health information to many audiences

    + Pay attention to detail

    + Organize, disseminate, and report public health information

    + Work as a team leader and team member

    + Communicate with local and community partners

    + Work independently, including being a “self-starter”

    + Facilitate groups

    + Speak publicly

    + Possess an attitude that fosters a respectful, non-threatening workplace environment

     

    Compensation for roles at Staffing Solutions Organization LLC (SSO) varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, SSO provides a reasonable range of compensation for this role. In addition, SSO provides a range of benefits for this role.

     

    Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. This position is not eligible for work authorization sponsorship including H-1B sponsorship) by SSO. Under the federal laws relating to the F-1 STEM EAD program, SSO may be able to support a STEM EAD extension application at the sole discretion of your Designated School Official. This does not guarantee that any STEM EAD extension application will be approved.
