    Depending on location, this position may involve direct work with students with autism, emotional and/or developmental disabilities which may include, but are not limited to, oppositional and aggressive behaviors; mood disorders; and potentially severe and unpredictable physical and/or verbal outbursts. School Counselors are expected to:

    What you'll do:

    + Ability to work with a diverse population of students

    + Provide students with a safe, orderly environment that is conducive to teaching and learning

    + Provide targeted interventions to teach social, emotional, and behavioral regulation

    + Provide group and/or individual counseling using evidence-based interventions

    + Create Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans

    + Collaborate and consult with community-based providers, parents, component districts, colleagues and provide resources to meet student learning needs

    + Communicate regularly and effectively with stakeholders

    + Record and report student progress

    Job Qualifications

    Required:

    + NYS School Counselor Certification

    + Candidates should possess a broad skill set to engage learners of all levels

    + Knowledge of skills related to trauma, illness, grief, crisis intervention, identifying level of functioning for students

    + Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team

    + Excellent written and oral communication skills

    + Promoting equity and culturally responsive practices to create inclusive environments
