Job Summary and Qualifications
The Transplant Revenue and Benefits Analyst supports financial coordination and reimbursement processes for stem cell transplant and hematologic malignancy patients across inpatient and outpatient settings. This role ensures accurate charge capture, billing, and contract compliance while also serving as a liaison between providers, patients, insurers, and administrative teams. The analyst monitors and audits financial accounts, facilitates payer contracts and case rates, and supports month-end financial reporting. Additionally, the analyst assists patients in understanding their insurance benefits, identifies financial obligations, and connects under- or uninsured patients with alternative funding resources, ensuring access to care and continuity from both a financial and operational perspective.
What you will do in this role:
+ Communicates / apprises program physicians and administration of any potential reimbursement issues prior to treatment being provided, works collaboratively with provider, insurer and administration to resolve; obtains approval for treatment/ transplant from internal executive committee for under or uninsured patients if needed.
+ Counsels patients and providers regarding services that are related and unrelated to global contract periods and documents patient/donor counseling sessions
+ Develops and tracks logs of required benefit data for all hematology malignancy/stem cell transplant patients. Assumes responsibility for assessment, communication and tracking of patient financial requirements.
+ Assists with obtaining prior authorization for drugs, procedures and admissions as needed.
+ Assists PharmD with preauthorization of discharge meds as needed.
+ Obtains authorization for transplant medical evaluation, collection and transplant admission.
+ Maintains basic knowledge of the duties of the program revenue analyst to allow for coverage of key strategic needs in his/her absence
+ Participates in activities geared to attaining and keeping COE status with insurers including but not limited to RFI preparation, survey site visits, training, reporting, etc.
+ Tracks and reports gaps in needed vendors and facilities gap resolution.
+ Adheres to FACT, COE and other external regulatory agency standards, procedures / requirements
+ Serves as a liaison with other providers (i.e. case management, social work, transplant revenue analyst) in order to coordinate the completion of FMLA paperwork.
+ Provides monthly financial reports regarding case mix index.
+ Tracks the cause related to patients deciding to transplant elsewhere, especially those that decide to leave for another program late in the process.
