Job Description
Metro State University, Minnesota’s public, urban university, and four-time recipient of the Insight Into Diversity Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award is seeking to hire 2 (two) TRIO SSS Advisor & Retention Specialists. These are full-time, grant-funded positions within the Student Success Division and TRIO Student Support Services Program Department.
Responsibilities:
+ Serve as a TRIO SSS Advisor & Retention Specialist for an assigned caseload of advisees.
+ Collaborate, develop, coordinate, and implement program activities that enhance engagement, college success, retention, and graduation of program participants in accordance with grant regulations.
+ Maintain current knowledge of university and federal policies and procedures, academic programs, and services.
+ Maintain appropriate program documentation, record-keeping, and reporting as stipulated by the U.S. Department of Education regulations.
+ Develop evaluation strategies to measure the program and delivery of services effectiveness to enhance the quality of the program.
Salary Range:
This is a Minnesota State University Association of Administrative and Service Faculty (MSUAASF) Range C position with a salary range of $46.372 to $93,342. Salary is commensurate with education and experience, and is determined by the collective bargaining agreement between Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (Minnesota State) and the MSUAASF organization.
Minimum Qualifications
The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position. Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for the position:
+ Master’s degree and two years of experience in education, counseling, advising, student development/programming, and/or community engagement **OR** Bachelor’s degree and three years of education, counseling, direct college advising/student programming experience.
+ Must demonstrate at least one year of professional experience working directly with first-generation, limited-income income, and or individuals with disabilities.
+ Experience that demonstrates a working knowledge of academic advising principles, counseling strategies, student development theory, and high-impact retention strategies
Preferred Qualification
+ Previous experience with TRIO programs or related federal programs from the U.S. Department of Education.
+ Knowledge and experience with relevant software applications for communication, record-keeping, and documenting programs and student activities.
Other Requirements
**Very Light:** Requires occasionally transporting such articles as file folders, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves maintaining a stationary position for long periods of time, a certain amount of movement is often necessary in carrying out job duties.

TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded program through the U.S. Department of Education.
