JOB SUMMARY
The Regional Manager of Internal Controls (RMIC) is responsible for evaluating and improving the operational effectiveness and control environment for select service hotels in the US & Canada. The RMIC is responsible for assisting and training hotels in strengthening and enhancing processes and tools to create strong internal controls which minimize risk and safeguard company assets. The RMIC will share best practices across hotels, identify and respond to control related trends, and create and update training as necessary to ensure it meets the needs of select services hotels. The RMIC will participate in and manage the annual Financial Control Audit (FCA) process for select service hotels to ensure compliance with control standards. This individual will work closely with regional finance teams, property leaders and Internal Audit to identify control weaknesses and present recommendations to financial leaders.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
_Required_
+ Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
+ Minimum of 4 years of finance/accounting/audit/operations experience in a hotel environment
+ Ability to travel approximately 20-30%
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
+ Develops objectives, plans and scope consistent with the objectives and priorities as indicated by Finance leadership, with input from Internal Audit.
+ Develops and/or enhances audit tools and reviews internal controls for select service hotels.
+ Conducts property visits to assess internal controls in areas which include Cash, System Access Management, PCard, Balance Sheet Certifications, Property Self Audit and other Financial Control Audit (FCA) processes, as well as any other key control initiatives as directed.
+ In conjunction with continent resources, manage/execute the annual FCA process to ensure the agreed upon property reviews and follow up actions are completed as required.
+ Create annual audit plan to include the scope of the FCA, number of FCA’s to be completed by the above property team, documentation required for audit support and identify key risk areas for control reviews. Partner with the US & Canada Finance team to pull through SOP changes and updated controls as needed.
+ Create content and lead financial training for select service hotels to increase knowledge of control standards/processes and ultimately drive operational excellence.
+ Confers with Company management on opportunities to improve policies, programs, and activities; makes recommendations regarding specific areas of responsibility. Ensures consistent treatment and resolution of issues.
+ Meets with Company management at all levels to discuss audit plans and results and make recommendations to resolve findings requiring corrective action.
+ Participates in the training provided by the Internal Audit Department.
+ Works closely with Internal Audit to follow-up on issues and recommendations resulting from their own property and regional audits and develops plans to improve overall control environment.
+ Train property teams on control environment enhancements and share best practices across hotels
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
The salary range for this position is $84,900 to $134,300 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus.
**Washington Applicants Only:** Employees will accrue 0.04616 PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 7 holidays annually.
