Your Impact
The primary purpose of this role is to plan, direct, and implement the Lowe's safety program to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment in compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations. This role directs and influences all s and departments of the organization as it relates to safety and regulatory processes. This position will serve as the first point of contact on emergency response items, facilitating intelligence gathering and summarization for the VP of Asset Protection, Divisional Vice President, Legal, Public Relations, and other key executives. Also, this role designs, implements and manages programs supporting strategic initiatives and run the business activities, related to safety and compliance. This includes responsibility for overseeing the safety function and providing safety program direction and safety audits, investigating serious injuries, and accompanying government inspectors and other safety-related officials during inspections of the location. Also, this position enables an environment actively fostering collaboration between the field and SSC personnel to accomplish desired capabilities, tools, and process improvements. This position will facilitate the information cascade of programs and events from SSC and field personnel and communicate updates. This role works closely with Divisional Asset Protection and Safety Directors as well as SSC based support functions to identify and proactively address needs, opportunities and provide immediate support in response to incidents in the field. Ensures that the organization reduces incidents for both associates and customers to avoid unnecessary brand degradation, liability and profit erosion. This position oversees one division, and average of five regions, fifty districts, and over 550 locations that require a 24-hour on-call commitment to address the needs related to safety incidents and regulatory issues.
What You Will Do
+ Responds to emergency situations on a daily basis, requiring a 24 hour a day 7 days a week on call commitment, coordinating response efforts in the field and at the SSC. Directs all s of Lowe's associates regarding emergency notifications and accident investigations
+ Works with assigned partnership teams (i.e. executive leadership, field leadership and legal departments) to ensure company and store compliance with OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, NIOSH, and local government regulations
+ Actively seek alignment, influence and integration with executives, legal, risk, merchandising, human resources and store operations around corporate initiatives to assess impact to store operations and ensures field organization is educated and prepared for efforts as they deploy
+ Conducts monetary settlement agreements and conferences with federal regulatory agencies. Provides direction and influence to store, regional, divisional, and corporate leaders related to regulatory settlements and abatements
+ Completes store visits in collaboration with executive, divisional and regional leaders monthly to identify opportunities related to safety departmental processes, programs and technology/equipment requirements
+ Serves as the company subject matter expert in safety collaborating and advising key stakeholders in the corporate office such as Legal, Learning, HR and Store Operations to ensure alignment of programs and processes to brand and regulatory requirements
+ Analyze safety and risk data to identifying trends to partner with the SSC / field subject matter experts to take appropriate actions in facilitating training and change management to address key behavioral shifts to accomplish desired outcomes
+ Recognizes enterprise and industry wide trends and work collaboratively with cross functional groups to develop and implement solutions across entire organization and support external partners (vendors, other retail safety groups, LPF & RILA)
+ Coordinate with Learning & Development / Leadership to deliver training programs for Asset Protection and Safety as related to Asset Protection and Safety programs, processes and initiatives
+ Develops, enhances, and implements safety policies and programs to ensure compliance with government regulations and to resolve safety problems within their respective locations
+ Develop content for organization related to safety education and support of the organization’s priorities, to include weekly recaps and broadcasts, monthly safety meetings, quarterly newsletters/videos, and year-end sales meeting.
+ Responsible for researching, testing, implementing, managing and ensuring the success or multiple multi-million-dollar company initiatives, projects, and deployments
+ Conducts presentations for the AP/Safety staff and stores in the assigned divisions in order to train, educate, and direct continuous safety improvement for Lowe’s (customer and associate)
+ Attends meetings and represent the department. Serves as backup to Director of Safety, Hazmat & Environmental Compliance and VP and make critical decisions that align with departmental strategy
+ Facilitate town hall discussions to drive future field and store facing initiatives
+ Lead training sessions for AP and field leaders related to Asset Protection programs and processes to identify gaps and partner with the subject matter experts at the SSC to provide solutions
+ Manages the company's safety reporting and communicates key findings to strategic partners
+ Identify what is most important for DAPDs/RAPDs/DAPMs to focus on within the review platform: AP walk analysis, DSHR key findings, recent regulatory visits, other industry/regulatory needs
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree Safety Science, Industrial Health, Risk Management, Engineering, Business, or related field or equivalent experience and 8-10 Years Progressive retail safety experience demonstrating increasing s of responsibility and/or in retail safety
+ Experience in retail safety, accident investigation analysis, health and safety program evaluation, OSHA regulations
+ 8-10 Years Multi-unit retail or supply chain safety
+ 8-10 Years Accident investigation and root cause analysis
+ 8-10 Years Health and safety program evaluation
+ 8-10 Years Experience with OSHA’s regulations and safety process
+ 8-10 Years Experience working in a cross-functional team environment
+ 8-10 Years Demonstrated experience developing, adapting, or facilitating training
Preferred Skills/Education
+ Master's Degree Safety Science or equivalent experience
+ 5-7 Years Progressive retail safety experience demonstrating increasing of responsibility and/or in retail safety
+ 5-7 Years Experience with OSHA’s regulations and safety process
+ 5-7 Years Experience working in a cross-functional team environment
+ 5-7 Years Demonstrated experience developing, adapting, or facilitating training
+ Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
+ Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
+ World Safety Organization (WSO) Certification
+ Associate in Risk Management (ARM) - Certification In Risk Management
+ OSHA 10 OR 30 HOUR
