    Summary This Transportation Assistant position is in the business office service at the Manchester VA Medical Center, located in Manchester NH. This position is a full time position at 40 hours per week. Responsibilities The incumbent serves as a Transportation Assistant and acts as primary contact to Veterans for transportation needs. The incumbent works with the Veteran Transportation Service (VTS) Supervisory Mobility Manager for transportation workload forecasting, scheduling design, procedure development, and quality improvement implementation, modification of processes, evaluation, and ongoing operational flow of the Veteran Transportation Services program. The three major areas of responsibility are: (1) Scheduling, Data Collection, & Tracking Support; (2) Performance Measures Support (3) Coordination, Program Planning and Advisory Services The incumbent must have knowledge of clinical services, related software, and programs as they relate to clinical computing and office automation. Major duties include but are not limited to: Collects, compiles, and tracks data and statistical information in support of Veteran Transportation Service (VIS). Performs a basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports. Reviews documents, reports and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate. Maintains automated system of program-specific data to track items such as service project milestones, progress reports, clinic trends, program trends, performance measures, compliance strategies, etc. Provides procedural support in administering quality monitors to be utilized in the internal consultation process to measure the success of efforts to provide seamless care and to support the education of staff in the proper use of the electronic record, to include internal consultation processes. On a daily basis validate program workload and ensure reporting is accurate. Provides technical and management guidance necessary to achieve the optimum use of service resources. Plans and provides support services in the following types of program areas: electronic records management; driver scheduling setup & management of program; space utilization services. Provides advice to operating managers and supervisors on how provided services can assist in accomplishing their missions and programs. Provides advisory services to the Mobility Manager regarding the requirements and implications of the office services provided. Utilizes the Veterans Health Information System & Technological Architecture (VISTA), Computerized Patient Record Systems (CPRS) or SharePoint Consult/Request Tracking System in processing internal consultations. Performs other related duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS 06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS 05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS 05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: answers questions/resolve concerns with customers, patients, family members, medical staff; tracking, collecting and organizing data in an automated spreadsheet or database; knowledgeable in regard to consult management, scheduling, admissions, discharge, transfer, and/or administration with patient processing; prepare and produce written instructions and a variety of correspondences; and coordination of transportation to include scheduling, data collection, and tracking. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Compliance Control of Funds Customer Service Technical Competence Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Incumbent will be exposed to stressful working situations that will require a mature attitude and collective reasoning to overcome. The incumbent is subject to a great deal of stress because of the high volume of work, the need for accuracy, frequency of interruptions and ever changing demands due to program changes.
