About the Agency :The Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL) provides consumer protection and public safety through its regulation of more than 250,000 licensees within more than 44 Boards and Commissions here in the great State of Idaho.

Job Summary: TheSafety Program Specialistworks under the direction of the Trades Program Director to coordinate Industrial Safety and School Safety inspections within the Building Program, as well as Liquid Petroleum (LPG) inspections to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
As part of DOPL’s regulatory oversight, this role ensures the timely inspection of state-owned facilities, schools, and LPG facilities, upholding industry standards in accordance with building codes, HVAC codes, and other regulatory requirements.
Example of Duties:
+ Inspection Coordination: Work with the Trades Program Director to schedule and oversee Industrial Safety and School Safety inspections (Building Program) and Liquid Petroleum Gas inspections (HVAC Program).
+ Training & Safety Education: Develop and lead safety training programs, workshops, and awareness initiatives for employees and management to enhance compliance and workplace safety culture.
+ Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with internal teams, leadership, and external agencies to strengthen compliance measures and improve safety processes.
+ OASIS System Management & Documentation: Maintain and manage the list of state facilities, schools, and LPG facilities within the OASIS software system, ensuring accurate records for inspection scheduling, reporting, and regulatory tracking.

Minimum Qualification Specialties:
+ Proven ability to lead or facilitate teams or groups, driving collaboration and effectiveness.
+ Experience collaborating across business units, agencies, or organizations, supporting alignment and shared objectives.
+ Technical writing and communication expertise, ensuring clarity and accuracy in documentation.
+ Experience interpreting and applying laws and regulations, ensuring compliance and operational alignment.
+ Proficiency in interpreting and applying contracts, supporting regulatory and operational needs.
+ Ability to explain technical program-related policies and procedures, ensuring clarity and understanding across stakeholders.
+ Experience reviewing documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance, minimizing errors and improving oversight.
+ Strong background in developing and evaluating policies, procedures, training, and presentation materials.
+ Expertise in compiling and analyzing information and/or data, as well as writing reports and correspondence in a professional setting.
+ Experience supervising staff, ensuring operational efficiency and team leadership.
+ Strong customer service skills, with a track record of handling inquiries professionally.
+ Experience planning, building, and constructing facilities, as well as inspecting sites for compliance with state, local, and federal standards.
+ Strong communication skills, with experience presenting information both verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences.
+ Ability to assess training needs and evaluate courses to ensure effectiveness.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Certifications:OSHA 30 certification and Commercial Building Inspector certification are required, or the ability to acquire them within a specified timeframe.
+ Industry Knowledge:Strong understanding of inspection coordination, industry safety standards, and Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) regulatory requirements.
+ Communication & Training:Excellent communication, training, and organizational skills.
+ Problem-Solving:Ability to assess complex situations and develop practical solutions to support inspection schedules.
+ Technical Proficiency:Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
+ Inspection & Regulatory Expertise:Experience coordinating inspections for state facilities, schools, and LPG facilities.
+ Building Codes Knowledge:Familiarity with building codes as they relate to safety inspections.
+ Software Proficiency:Experience with the OASIS software system for managing inspection data and regulatory compliance.
+ Training Development:Ability to develop and lead safety training programs for various stakeholders.
