Summary You will serve as a PAINTER LEADER (EXPERT) in the PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT, COATINGS AND PRESERVATION (970) of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. The President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the hiring freeze. Responsibilities You will perform inspections of work in process to ensure supervisor direction is followed, proper standards and practices are being adhered to, and rework is minimized. You will conduct research to continually improve trade processes and keep shop personnel apprised of new technologies, procedures, and tooling improvements associated with preservation work. You will provide trade technical guidance for correction of workmanship or misapplication of trade standards. You will keep the supervisor apprised and initiates deficiency reports as necessary to ensure work integrity. You will serve as an Expert Painter and determine the methods, techniques, materials, and devices best suited to obtain smooth-textured and decorative surfaces and ensure that surface coatings meet level and thickness requirements. You will make recommendations for and assist in the development of standard workbooks the ensure trade best practices are codified and utilized. You will coach junior Painters on how to properly annotate or fill-out and certify completion of work steps in work or trade instructions/ documents. You will perform reviews of documents associated with completed work and trade processes to ensure they are filled out adequately and accurately before being presented to the supervisor for certification.
