    The University of Southern Maine’s Department of Engineering invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2026.

     

    The successful candidate will have a demonstrated passion for teaching and will teach computer engineering undergraduate courses, including electronics, and engage students in undergraduate research. Candidates are expected to contribute to the development of the Computer Engineering program and its curriculum.     The Department of Engineering (http://www.usm.maine.edu/engineering) offers ABET-accredited Bachelor of Science degrees in Electrical & Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Industrial Engineering.     The targeted starting date for this position is Fall 2026 and will pay a base salary of $74,000 plus benefits. Candidates must reside within commutable distances from the USM campuses. This requirement is essential for the ability to participate in supporting and building upon our university culture of "student focused every day" and allows for regular participation in on-campus activities, meetings, and fulfills the responsibilities of the role effectively.

    Required Qualifications:

    + Ph.D. in computer engineering, electrical engineering or similar discipline by the date of employment.

    + Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in embedded systems, computer architecture, high performance computing systems, and related areas.

    + Demonstrated commitment to student success, active learning, and community and industry engagement.
