The ideal candidate will have:
+ High School Diploma/GED
+ One (1) year minimum of hands-on utility experience (ie meter reading, electric/water distribution maintenance and/or installation, telecommunications, cable installation, etc) is required; previous experience in a field technician role or related field is preferred.
+ Valid Florida Driver’s License
+ Dependability and reliability are crucial, with flexibility to work a rotating shift schedule and tp adapt to ever changing work schedules to meet operational needs

**Salary Range:** Starting at **$29.14** per hour (Estimated $60,611.20 annually) with a structured step progression system and performance-based pay increases every 6 months up to $ **38.51** per hour(Estimated $80,100.80 annually).

Job Purpose:
Under limited supervision, complete field assignments from customer and internal collection requests. Activate and deactivate electric and water services, as well as the installation of meters. Frequently interact with external customers; this includes situations involving disconnect for non-payment.
Primary Functions:
+ Safely and effectively handle electric meters and water meters throughout OUC’s service territory.
+ Activate/ deactivate, inspect, seal, read, install/ remove and unlock/ re-lock electric and watermeters within OUC’s service territory.
+ Use basic hand tools to complete tasks and test connections/ voltage on single and poly-phaseservices.
+ Utilize various applications to complete job functions; this includes CIS, Elster EA_MS, RouteManager (EA Mobile), and MobLite.
+ Maintain security and control of company vehicle and standard equipment needed to complete the job; this includes meters, seals, tools, laptops, radios, etc.
+ Identify and report meter theft/ tampering conditions in accordance with departmental policies.
+ Interact with customers and manage any issues associated with installations, disconnections or other service concerns.
+ Assist Supervisor or Lead with back-office functions, including distribution of assignments.
+ Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.
Technical Requirements:
+ Familiarity with, but not limited to, the following:
+ Knowledge of: mathematics to include graphic arithmetic, principles of mechanical concepts, reading comprehension
+ Intermediate knowledge of OUC service territory.
+ Comprehensive knowledge in all, but not limited to, the following:
+ CIS
+ Elster EA_MS
+ Route Manager (EA Mobile)
+ Moblite
+ Maintenance of various Section forms, flow charts, diagrams, etc.
+ Must be able to promptly respond to customer reconnect or emergency orders in accordance with established SLA’s for 24/7 operations.
+ Ability to effectively communicate with customers, and OUC personnel (Supervisors, co-workers, etc.).
+ Ability to safely and legally drive a company vehicle.
+ Ability to safely and effectively use various hand tools and testing equipment necessary in completing job duties.
+ Must be able to use standard office equipment (telephone, fax, copier, etc.) in the performance of job duties.
+ Ability to accurately read electric and water meters.
+ Ability to efficiently route work assignments and locate meters.
+ Ability to operate in a calm manner under stressful conditions.
+ Ability to resolve conflicts or escalate to supervisors as needed.
+ Basic computer skills
Education/ Certification/ Years of Experience Requirements:
+ High school diploma or GED;
+ One (1) year of hands-on utility field operations experience such as meter reading, Electric/ Water Distribution maintenance and/or installation, or similar work experience.
+ Valid Florida driver’s license.
Working Conditions:
This job involves frequent exposure to extreme weather conditions. This job may involve working conditions such as confined areas, heights, insects, and fumes. This job requires very frequent driving of an assigned company vehicle. This job involves working after hours, call-out, late shifts, weekends, and holidays on a regular basis.
Physical Requirements:
This job requires constant typing/ writing, reading, and detailed inspection and works primarily in the field (outdoors). It also requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, and lifting up to twenty (20) pounds. This job may require frequent bending, pushing, and pulling. This job requires occasional crawling, climbing, and reaching over head. This job may require occasional lifting up to forty (40) pounds and rare lifting up to fifty (50) plus pounds.
