Community Advocate

Opportunities for Otsego is seeking a compassionate, community-minded professional to strengthen the support network for low-income individuals across Otsego County by partnering with local organizations and advocating on behalf of individuals seeking assistance. As Community Advocate you will:

+ Serve as the point of contact for persons seeking general support from OFO and conduct comprehensive assessment of need

+ Connect individuals with internal and external programs to ensure access to appropriate resources, following up as necessary

+ Share resource and referral information with persons seeking assistance, staff, community members, and professionals as requested

+ Represent the agency at community events, meetings, and outreach activities to raise awareness and promote programs and services

This position involves local travel and offers mileage reimbursement.

Minimum Education and Experience: Associate’s degree and two years of relevant experience or a combination of educational and practical experiences; valid, unrestricted New York State driver’s license and reliable vehicle; Social Care Network experience a plus

Expected Skills: Strong Microsoft Office skills; technical and service skills required by duties; client service orientation; accountability for results; teamwork; adaptability; reliability; intermediate knowledge of information and technology as pertains to the field

Working Conditions: Work in typical office environment; public speaking and presentations; work with public; frequent local travel
